Returns Management System is a system which manages the returns for retail businesses. There are various ways in which Returns Management System can be implemented in an organisation. It can be custom software developed in-house or third-party software.
The system allows definition of the various processes to handle the returns for your company.
As a high level overview of the process, consider a scenario involving the purchase of a CD Player of XYZ company from an Electronic store.
So, you use the same and find there is some issue with the player and you return the same to your retail store. Now you have initiated a returns process. The store will either replace the player or credit the customer if it is in warranty, or with in sample period of say 90 days.
A return authorization number is generated and the same can be traced across as it flows through the system.
There are various complexities involved in the same when the item comes back to the manufacturer warehouse.
The player received is checked for defects and is sent for repair. Once repaired, it may be sold as a refurbished item.
