List of retired BC Ferries:
- MV Langdale Queen (built in 1903 by William Cramp and Sons of Philadelphia as the coastal steamer SS Asbury Park; purchased by the Monticello Steamship Company and moved to San Francisco Bay in 1918, where she was refitted and rebuilt as the car ferry SS City of Sacramento; transferred to Southern Pacific-Golden Gate Ferries in 1925 and enlarged; purchased by Puget Sound Navigation Company (PSNC) in 1941 and moved to the Seattle-Bremerton route in Puget Sound; transferred to PSNC's Canadian affiliate, Black Ball Ferries, in 1952 and refitted and rebuilt as MV Kahloke to operate on the Horseshoe Bay-Nanaimo route across the Strait of Georgia; purchased by BC Ferries in 1961; renamed MV Langdale Queen and moved to the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route in 1964; retired in 1976; hull intermittently used as a barge in the 1980s; scrapped in 2005)[1]

- MV Salt Spring Queen (built by Yarrows Shipyards (Esquimalt) in 1949 as MV Delta Princess)
- MV Vesuvius Queen (built by Victoria Machinery Depot in 1951 as MV Lloyd Jones)
- MV Sunshine Coast Queen (built in 1951 as MV Vacationland; purchased as MV Père Nouvel in 1966)
- MV Princess of Vancouver (built in 1955 in Glasgow, Scotland, for the Canadian Pacific Railway)
- MV Queen of Sidney (built by Victoria Machinery Depot in 1960 as MV Sidney)
- MV Queen of Victoria (built by Victoria Machinery Depot in 1962 as MV City of Victoria)
- MV Queen of the Islands (built by Burrard Dry Dock in 1965)
- MV Queen of the North (built in 1969 as MV Stena Danica; renamed MV Queen of Surrey in 1973; renamed MV Queen of the North in 1976; sank in Wright Sound on 22 March 2006)
- FastCat Series (three high-speed catamarans built by a subsidiary of BC Ferries, the first two of which were in service in 1999 and 2000)

On 30 January 2008, BC Ferries announced that it was preparing to retire four additional ships:
- MV Queen of Tsawwassen (built by Burrard Dry Dock in 1960 as MV Tsawwassen)[9]
- MV Queen of Vancouver (built by Burrard Dry Dock in 1962 as MV City of Vancouver)[10]
- MV Queen of Saanich (built by Victoria Machinery Depot in 1963)
- MV Queen of Esquimalt (built by Victoria Machinery Depot in 1963)
