I don't have a good image editor, but this image could use some changes:

Typically, forward pedaling engages the smaller sprocket, backward pedaling the larger. The top chainlines cross. This is the case on the historical retro directs as well as all three of the modern ones I'm aware of.

Also, using "Free wheel" to describe the idler is confusing, as a "freewheel" is a specific mechanism which the idler is not. For that matter, the idler need not be a sprocket; an untoothed pulley would suffice. Anyway, I'd just label it "Idler"
