[edit] Edit summaries
Hi there, please don't forget to provide an edit summary - it really does make things work work better by quickly explaining to other users what your change was about. Thanks/wangi 22:53, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok, thanks.--Res2216firestar 00:22, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Just to let you know...
I'm removing the message you left on the talk page of Clan (Warriors). Now, it wasn't vandalism or bad or anything like that, the thing is it is kind of a lure to vandals. Reverse psychology, forbidden fruit, etc., etc., you know? There's a Wikipedia policy somewhere, I couldn't give you the name. But anyway, don't feel bad, it's just a friendly tip. See ya! DoomsDay349 Happy Halloween! 03:13, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey, we're following each other!! That's twice now today:)) Cheers, Moreschi 17:59, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] FootballMercato
Dear Sir, FootballMercato has already been visited by more than 150,000 unique visitors in more than 60 countries, and as such represents a notable website from my point of view. Some other sites in the category Category:Football (soccer) websites have less visitors than FootballMercato and they still appear in that category (for example, objectivo.com, etc.). The major part of this website is completely free to use. Please revoke your request for deletion.
[edit] Speedy tagging
Hi there; firsdt of all,let me say that your work in tagging articles for deletion is most welcome; we need all the help we can get. I think that you may not be aware of the full range of {{speedy}} tags available; using them all is helpful because admins will give some grearer priority than otheres. You can find the full list at WP:SPEEDY. Happy wikying.--Anthony.bradbury 23:41, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
OK thanks!--Res2216firestar 23:42, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] thanks
thanks for fixing my clumsy attempt at a redirect Stephen
[edit] NPWatcher
You've been approved to use NPWatcher. When you log into the program, wait a few seconds while it queries wikipedia before screaming at your PC for crashing (unless you see an error, of course). Please give me any feature requests, bugs, etc. The watchlist feature does not work. Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if I've made a new release. Finally, enjoy! Martinp23
- As you will be able to tell, the GUI needs work! I'm doing this over the weekend :) Please report any bugs to me (I'm also on IRC in freenode, user Martinp23). Thanks for your interest! Martinp23 23:01, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipodia
Could I ask why you took a speedy db-nonsense off this vandal article Wikipodia twice after another editor put it on there and I reverted your redirect. If you looked you would see it's pure vandalism and it needs to be deleted. The spelling is incorrect and it's not a duplicate.--John Lake 22:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
I just thought it could be a redirect since the vandal was criticizing anyone who spelled it that way.--Res2216firestar 01:10, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] References
Thanks! I was in the process of adding references when you messaged me. (71.56.24.95 02:54, 30 November 2006 (UTC))
No problem.--Res2216firestar 01:09, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion
Please note that violation of WP:NOT is explicitly not grounds for speedy deletion. You tagged unlocking for being a "how-to" article, but this is not speedyable. --Srleffler 06:10, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh, sorry. I'll use the right tagging from now on.--Res2216firestar 22:27, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] hey again
Hi it is me again. I wanted to know how old you where cause I am just 14 and I am complitlely lost. You look like a 25 year old man but you have the under 17 badge. Where did you learn all those stuff?? I know I am a big pain in your ass but can you edit my user pager page it is really ugly and your's is really cool Seynabou 00:20, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Seynabou
It's no problem, I am really under 17 and I learned that stuff when somebody left the welcome message for me. I technically can't edit your userpage (it goes against the guidelines) but this link might help you: WP:UP. Happy editing!--Res2216firestar 22:09, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hayq, Sari
Theres nothing to dispute. Nareklm 19:25, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Well I just thought the "Crystal clear purity" part didn't sound like it was adhering to the NOPV policy, it kinda sounded like an ad.--Res2216firestar 19:32, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well its true those waterfalls are one of the most pure in Armenia or worldwide they've sold more 100 million around the world. Nareklm 19:33, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
I understand that, but it would be better if we could find a way to say that while better adhering to NOPV.--Res2216firestar 19:36, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Using WP:ARV
Hi - take a look at this diff [1]. It seems to be a fairly common problem with ARV, when if you choose to report a user whilst on the edit page, &action=edit is added to the end of the username, breaking the template. I'm going to report this now, but am just letting you know (only report vandals when you're on the user talk page itself). Thanks, Martinp23 21:31, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User 12.26.69.43
Looking at the contribs of this particular IP address, especially the last several vandalism attempts on the Circuit City page, it's apparent that it's used for more vandalism than anything worthwhile. Looking at the user's talk page, they also have several vandal warnings posted. Incidentally, this IP is actually registered to the Circuit City company. Can you please escalate this up to a ban so we can stop the vandalism? Thanks! B2bomber81 00:58, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Huh? I'm not a admin or a member of arbcom.--Res2216firestar 00:09, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Too quick on the draw with VandalProof
What's up bud? You're reverting with no rationale? What's up - why?76.168.147.197 19:19, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I can't really see the output of the edit, your edit just looked like a test on the diff.--Res2216firestar 19:22, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Replaced the "$" with the two stroke dollar sign referenced in the paragraph about why there are two strokes in the sign. e.g "$" with "" Is this vandalism?63.138.87.171 22:13, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't know, maybe you should take it up at the Help desk--Res2216firestar 18:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
So, wait - you made an obviously incorrect change, were called on it - and now you're chalking it up to the fact you're not very observant and it's not your fault?
That's great. I'd like you to take your hand, reach around and pat yourself on the back for being personally responsible for the type of behavior that discourges newbies from contributing. I've now concluded that Wiki is an abject waste of time and it's been made clear why every academic I know considers it a failure: self-imposed "experts" with a sense of authority, too much free time on their hands, and little regard for the work of others. Congratulations!!
76.168.147.197 23:14, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
OK, you win, I did it wrong and I confess, but you have to see that the "!" in the diff did look odd.--Res2216firestar 23:35, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] More vandalism by someone you warned
Just found vandalism to Gerald Ford (disambiguation) by IP address 162.83.67.34, which you warned on 20 December. Nyttend 19:39, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
OK I'll report them to WP:AIV.--Res2216firestar 23:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:ADOPT
Hi there,
As a current Adopter with the Adopt-a-User program there has been some ongoing developments that we would like to bring to your attention.
A new Adopter's Area has been created where you can find useful resources and other Adopter's experiences. Please feel free to add any resources you may have found useful as an Adopter, as well as recount any experiences that you think may help others. If you know of any useful resources for new users / Adoptees then you can add them here.
Also the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user, on offering adoption please change the {{Adoptme}} template to {{Adoptoffer}} on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking.
Furthermore numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.
Finally - thanks for all your hard work, keep it up - and if you have any general questions or suggestions about the further development of Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User please bring them to our talk page. Cheers Lethaniol 13:59, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject on Vandalism studies Study 1 is complete.
The WikiProject on Vandalism studies recently finished its first study and has published its conclusions (a full and detailed copy of the conclusions can be found here).
The first study analyzed a randomly sampled pool of 100 random articles. Within these 100 articles there were a total of 668 edits during the months of November 2004, 2005, and 2006. Of those 668 edits, 31 (or 4.64%) were a vandalism of some type. The study's salient findings suggest that in a given month approximately 5% of edits are vandalism and 97% of that vandalism is done by anonymous editors. Obvious vandalism is the vast majority of vandalism used. From the data gathered within this study it is also found that roughly 25% of vandalism reverting is done by anonymous editors and roughly 75% is done by wikipedians with user accounts. The mean average time vandalism reverting is 758.35 minutes (12.63 hours), a figure that may be skewed by outliers. The median time vandalism reverting is 14 minutes.
Currently the project is working on a related study, Wikipedia:WikiProject Vandalism studies/Obama article study, and is also beginning to draft up the parameters of our second major study (see Study 2). If you are still interested in our work (your name is on the participant's list), please participate in our efforts to help create a solid understanding of vandalism and information on wikipedia by contributing to discussions of past studies or by helping plan up and coming ones.
