Template talk:Reset

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Template:Reset is permanently protected from editing, as it is a heavily used or visible template.

Substantial changes should be proposed here, and made by administrators if the proposal is uncontroversial, or has been discussed and is supported by consensus. Use {{editprotected}} to attract the attention of an administrator in such cases.
Any contributor may edit the template's documentation to add usage notes, categories or interwiki links.

Just want to note, this template is official, it has been approved for use. Please treat it as you would if Danny had created it himself. Essjay TalkContact 21:10, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Do not edit this template unless you have been authorised to do so. If you have a suggestion for improvement you may make it here. --Vamp:Willow 15:43, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Make WP:OFFICE explicit

I think this template should be changed to state explicitly that the 'reset' was done under the authority of WP:OFFICE. This will make the justification for the shortness of the article and the semiprotection clear to new users, readers who do not edit Wikipedia, and others who may not (and in the latter case almost certainly will not) be aware that Dannyisme is Danny's WP:OFFICE-invoking account. Please note that I've removed {{editprotected}}, since the template should not be edited by administrators without discussion (see my talk page, oldid 49168421). I assume that the "relevant people" and interested users have this template watchlisted. // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 19:33, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] {{editprotected}}

Last line, "from the office" needs the obvious link. 68.39.174.238 08:17, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

That was inserted earlier by Essjay. Kimchi.sg 08:25, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed edit

A spelling-neutral edit. Change "whilst this rebuilding is started" to "during the rebuilding of this article". Peter O. (Talk) 10:08, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] insertion of material directly from pre-protection revisions

When it says "insertion of material directly from pre-protection revisions," does it mean automatically, or by us. - Peregrine Fisher 22:23, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

I would assume it means a user copying part of the removed version, and putting it in the current version. Prodego talk 22:25, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Slight improvement perhaps

The generic template starts "On date this article was..." I thought it might read a little clearer if the word 'date' were in some way marked to show that it changes. For example: <<date>> or <<Insertdatehere>>. Any thoughts? --Hydraton31 (talk) 17:15, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Requested style correction, tagging

{{editprotected}}

I request for the following two edits to this template:

  • That the spaces flanking the two em dashes in the template's text should be removed, per the Manual of Style's suggestions.
  • That the small red padlock should be added to the template's page's top-right corner, so that it can be seen there that the template in question is protected indefinitely. (Although the template on this page was, up to now, {{temprot}}, it makes no sense for a template like {{reset}}, and {{temprot}} has been here since 6 December 2006 anyway.) My proposed change should be done in the following manner: The initial part of the code should be changed from

<includeonly>{{pp-meta

to

<noinclude>{{pp-template|small=yes}}

</noinclude><includeonly>{{pp-meta
