You may have to wait a few weeks for a screenshot and longer for a boxart, the only 'legal' online image right now is the Game Informer cover (all the Game Informer scans are breaking the exclusivity agreement). I'm not sure if that would be covered by 'fair use' rationale. Evilkeen (talk) 04:43, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1080p
Only 1080i? Not 1080p? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.108.203.90 (talk) 07:47, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- The game is likely rendered in a native resolution of 720p, but for owners of 1080i-only televisions, it can scale the 720p image up to 1080i to be compatible Evilkeen (talk) 14:32, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- It's not a normal scaling process either, Insomniac's kept the lid on how they scale from 720 to 1080, but 720p to 1080p is also possible if you only check the 1080p in your custom HDMI settings. --Jack Zhang (talk) 08:47, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
-
-
- The game does not run in 1080p and it is not possible to make it run in 1080p, even if you only check 1080p as your System Preference, the game does not support it, and therefore will show they game in 720p or 1080i is you disabled 720p. If every other output is disabled on you ps3 it other than 1080p, they system will go (I cant display that but it the only thing in allowed to display, so instead of displaying nothing ill choose what the next best thing even though he told me not to do it) this is called graceful degregation Furry Fury (talk) 21:36, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Subtitle
I'm pretty darned sure that 'United we Fall' is the title of the Game Informer article, not the subtitle to the actual game. Evilkeen (talk) 14:43, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, I looked at my GI article, and that's the "article" name, but not the subtitle to the game (as the phrase is used nowhere else in the text). I have reverted the page move someone made. --MASEM 14:46, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- James Stevenson has also denied the subtitle. He said it was just going to be called Resistance 2. --HQ (talk) 00:31, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Rating
Is it too early to give it a M-rating, it think it should be a RP (rating pending)? 68.198.203.250 (talk) 18:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Is there any evidence that this game was rated M? Patrolman89 (talk) 18:13, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- There's lots of circumstantial evidence. The previous game was rated M, and I'm sure they're aiming for an M--the podcast for the game allows harsh language because it's discussing a title that Insomniac is aiming to get an M certification on. However, studios don't rate their own titles, the ESRB does, so it'll technically be RP until the ESRB rules on this (much closer to release) Evilkeen (talk) 18:37, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
-
-
- I would say go with it, because I've yet to see a game in which it's sequel was given a lower rating than the original. I mean, what are the odds that it'll be rated AO, thereby making the game available to less people. Also, from what I've seen in the original Resistance, I would doubt that they'd change it so much as to make it be rated Teen. Legoland12342 (talk) 18:42, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

- I well think it should be a RP, because there is no proof of this. We can't estimate, it has to come from a source. We will just have to wait and I will change it into a RP. Patrolman89 (talk) 01:47, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Release Date Confirmations
This may be a noob question but I wanna know can we only post confirmations from 3rd party? Or can we post from the Devs too? Thanks for your replies.GraMicE (talk) 05:54, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- It's not that IGN or similar sites can't be used, but all IGN has right now is a date stated but with absolutely no confirmation of that date (eg, no news article stating the game is scheduled for release at some point). It would be better to wait until either Sony or Insomnia states the date, or that IGN reports more on the game, saying when it is expected to be released. --MASEM 05:58, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Ohh. I see the problem now. Alright, thanks.GraMicE (talk) 09:10, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- Right now all we have is the Game Informer article and links to it. We'll probably get an official release date at GDC though. --Bloigen 19:46, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't know why 1up has a release date but no articles for confirmation. And the article they used is from GI, which just says Fall.GraMicE (talk) 04:16, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

- I agree with HQ, no matter where it's placed, it looks very awkward.--Bloigen 01:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
I say that's because there's little text and so the picture seems to advert your attention away from the section, making it outstanding, but not in a good way.GraMicETalk 01:45, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Will continue to be developed?
On a prior edit the wording of the sentence was "currently". Is there a difference in this? My apologies on changing the future tense to the present tense. When I edited the page, the tense was not consistent and the lines "will continue to be developed" does not seem right.
The wording implies that the developer of the game could change at any point in time. There are no sources that would claim otherwise. Hence "currently" is a future tense as well as a better word choice. I will leave everything else alone, but until someone comes out of the woodwork to explain otherwise I am going to change that statement. SymbolicMeaning 03:01, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
"Currently" is definitely better than "will continue to be developed". If it says "will continue..." then that implies the devs haven't started yet or there are more in the series.GraMicETalk 06:58, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I did my best to change the tense to future since it's not yet released and also to stop any confusion.--Bloigen 01:06, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] New logos/Concept art
Recently, two new logos have been revealed for the game. One saying "Resistance 2" (different to the one on the article already), and another just saying "R2", as well as some concept art. They're definetly real because they were shown on the official Insomniac Games website and podcast, as well as on IGN. I would post them, but I don't know how to post images, and I wouldn't know if it's neccesary that I add the logos. http://www.insomniacgames.com/podcast/images/R2_long_logo.jpg http://www.insomniacgames.com/podcast/images/R2_short_logo.jpg 87.102.19.180 (talk) 00:59, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Incorrect Logo
The official Resistance 2 logo has been announced. It has the San Francisco Bay Bridge in the "A," look here:
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/03/20/resistance-2-first-look-multiplayer-classes/
Look at both the full and shortened logos. Can someone please replace the current article logo with the full official logo as seen in the page above? Dnlkk94 (talk) 05:01, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Trailer
I do not know when this was released, nor do I know anything else about it. But there is a Teaser Trailer here, Resistance 2 Teaser Trailer Seanor3 10:46, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's best we don't add the 19 hours bit until we know whether Hale was directly referring to himself or if it was a symbolic "at this rate, America will fall in 19 hours" thing. --HQ (talk) 13:32, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- You're right, I guess we'll have to wait 'till the 13th of June Seanor3 (talk) 13:56, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
This has been commented becuase it's addition is in dispute :
But having a resistance to the virus only slows it down, (insert end comment here) but its been a while since he has been infected, and now, he has only 19 hours left.[1]
Resistance: The capacity of an organism, tissue, or cell to withstand the effects of a harmful physical or environmental agent, such as a microorganism or pollutant.
While the fact if what happen to him may be speculation, the fact It is not speculation on whether or not it was said. I feel it should be put back in. However does anyone wish to rephrase to make it more satisfactory to you?
Please post revision here and we can decide what to do from then on Furry Fury (talk) 21:10, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, really, a direct quote of "My name is Nathan Hale... I have 19 hours left to live" is fine but anything further than that is speculation because I don't think it is said anywhere that he has 19 hours left to live because of the virus.--Bloigen 03:44, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism
This page has been vandalized four times in the last two days by the user Lil Deathzzz, he will no doubt continue with this vandalism. Something needs to be done about this before it continues. Seanor3 (talk) 23:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've noticed the vandalism has increased. Could somebody tell an admin? I'm not sure how to go about doing that. --Bloigen 11:10, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] New Info
In the Full Moon Podcast #25, there has been new info on Resistance 2. It talks about the Co-op story in general. The story goes like this, "...a part of elite Sentinel group, that is basically using Chimeran technology to advance themselves behind enemy lines where kind of the heart of the Chimera regime resides, and they're task with the goal of retrieving these Chimera artifacts and the reason behind this is that there is a huge resistance against this overtaking of the Chimera forces against the humans and in a last-ditch effort to try to empower themselves, empowering the resistance with greater force or greater technology, they sent this elite group of Sentinels behind enemy lines to recover these artifacts that they can enfuse their own technology with Chimera technology so that the humans can start to take advantage of this greater technology that the Chimeras have tapped into." Not only that, it also talks about gameplay as in if you don't play together, you will die. Or the experience that they are trying to accomplish. Can this be added to the page for Resistance 2? Here is a link to the Podcast; Full Moon Show. It's between 47min 55sec- 50min ??sec. Ultimate920 (talk) 04:11, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
No, it can't be added--you should know better.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.131.59.94 (talk) 19:36, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Weapons
Specific Weapon data is now available But Bloigen doesn't want it posted becuase he thinks its not important information
Not wanting to start an edit war I haven't reverted back to it.
but i an asking other people's opinions on whether this should be added
If he attempts to remove this article from the talk page however, he will have an edit war

Carbine: Assault Rifle, Secondary fire: Unknown [2] [3]
Rossmore: Shotgun, Secondary fire: Double Barrel.[2] [3]

[edit] Grenades:
Frag Grenade: Your regular old grenade, except it explodes on-contact with a direct hit on the enemy. [3]

[edit] New Weapons
Chaingun: Mini-gun, Secondary fire: Plants turret and creates a semi-circular shield similar around the front part of the gun. Grenades still pass through, and there is a small gap from which the gun barrel penetrates. [2][3]
Marksman: Mid-Range Semi Automatic Sniper Rifle. Secondary fire: Unknown [3] [4] [5]
- I removed it because it was unnesscary. Also, please don't try to "call me out". We're all just trying to make the article better.--Bloigen 03:07, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

- Hi, the Resistance 2 article doesn't have a lot of information now because there isn't a lot of information out, remember the game is out in around half a years time. I removed your list because Wikipedia is usually against listcruft, and it's really not needed. I made sure to let all your information remain but in a neater fashion.

- As well as new chimera enemies, Resistance 2 will feature new weapons to accompany the weapons already used in Resistance: Fall of Man, these weapons include a long range semi-automatic rifle called "The Marksman" and a minigun that has the special ability to act as a sentry gun.[6][7]

- MY section states all the currently known info with sources for each, displaying the has been revealed at this time.
- You have removed pretty much all the description from the weapons other than the 2 new ones and completely ignored that not all the weapons form the previous are returning. and that many of the old weapons have been changed
All the info in my post is cited and has been directly confirmed by Insomniac, and has been Stickied on the Resistance Forums. None of this is speculation. If insomniac themselves deem the info to be important I find it hard to believe time you say it "not needed".

- Specific discussion of weapons in video games articles is considered non-encyclopedic, unless the weapons are notable outside the context of the game. We can mention that there will be new and returning weapons to the game, but we don't need to go any details of what they are (but you can link to the above articles to provide more info). (Also, please note that new topics should be started at the end of talk pages.) --MASEM 22:12, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I have looked around and I see what you mean now. I'm so used to inside forums discussion and direct contact with employees that I forget the average person doesn't care about all the things a devoted fan would. This sort of thing would belong in the Insomniac specific wiki rather than the general public one. I concede previous opinion. Furry Fury (talk) 22:53, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
