Restless Knights is the sixth short subject starring American slapstick comedy team the Three Stooges. The trio made a total of 190 shorts for Columbia Pictures between 1934 and 1959. The title is an obvious pun on "restless nights", or chronic insomnia.

[edit] Plot

Set in Medieval times, the Stooges learn they are of royal blood. They also learn of a plot by the prime minister to kidnap the queen. The Stooges become the queen's royal guards and vow to save the kingdom. However, they are sentenced to die when they fail to prevent the abduction and are blamed for the crime.

[edit] Notes

  • As the Stooges' father slaps all three of them for their misbehavior, look closely, and you will find the father put Larry's candle out at the same time.
  • After the Queen is abducted, Curly uses his talent by making childish faces and gestures in front of the enemy soldiers. He taunts them, individually, into chasing him back into the cave where the other stooges are waiting to ambush them. This type of skit was used in later episodes (usually when they got involved with gangsters).

[edit] Goofs

  • If you freeze-frame when Larry is tossed onto the throne by Moe, a stunt double is filling in for Larry.

[edit] Quotes

    • Larry: "All for one!"
    • Moe: "One for all!"
    • Curly: "Every man for himself!"
    • Queen: "What were you doing in Paris?"
    • Moe: "Oh, looking over the parasites."
    • Moe: "Keep a stiff upper lip." - recurring line
    • Moe (to Larry): "What did you do with the queen?"
    • Curly: "Maybe he trumped her!"
    • Larry (as the Stooges are about to be shot with arrows): "Maybe they'll miss us."
    • Curly: "That'll be an arrow escape." *SLAP!*
    • Captain of the guard: "Ready...aim..."
    • Moe (desperatly): "Hold on a minute now! Ain't there another way we can die?"
    • Captain of the guard: "You may either have your head cut off or be burned at the stake! Heh, heh, heh."
    • Larry: "Cut my head off."
    • Curly: "Not me. I'd rather be burned at the stake."
    • Larry: "Why?"
    • Curly: "A hot steak is better than a cold chop." *BONK, SLAP!*
    • - this gag would be recycled in Three Little Pirates
