Respect M.E. is the first greatest hits album by American rapper-songwriter Missy Elliott, released by Atlantic Records on September 4, 2006 in Europe, Asia and Australia. It includes a collection of the singles from across all six of her studio albums, released between 1997 and 2005. Speculation about two new tracks on this greatest hits soon began after the announcement that cd was coming. Two tracks called "123" and "Magnifica" were supposed to be on it according to rumours and 123 could even be pre-ordered as a cd-single in the UK musicstore HMV. However, these songs did not make it on the album.
Missing from the collection is the U.S. single "Take Away". This track was omitted as, in Europe in 2001, the more successful Basement Jaxx dance remix of "4 My People" was released in its place. Another notable omission is the exclusion of the single/video version of "One Minute Man" with Trina, which hasn't been released on any official CD. There are no new tracks featured on the collection.
Respect M.E. became her second top ten album in the UK and her highest charting album to date, peaking at number seven. According to BPI it has been certified Gold for sales of over 100,000 units in the UK and 500,000 copies world wide.
