Resonance disaster

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The resonance disaster designates the destruction of a building or a technical mechanism by lively oscillations in the mechanics and construction. A cause for it is the resonance: The energy is optimally transferred when periodic suggestion and stored in the system. By storage and further energy input the system swings ever more strongly, until the load limit is exceeded. For the protection of the construction shock-mounts are blocked, those within the range of the resonant frequency strongly to absorb and thus the energy entry exhaust (for instance with the highest building 2005, the Taipei 101, by massif a Tilgerpendel over several floors). Furthermore the construction is designed for a natural frequency, which does not arise typically in the enterprise. In seismic zones one addresses oneself thereby to the locally typical oscillating frequencies that ground electrode container run gene. The avoidance of resonance disasters is article each building -, flight and girder construction.
