Resident Coordinator

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A United Nations Resident Coordinator is the highest United Nations official in a country (except when there is a mission of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations or similar, in which case the Special Representative of the Secretary-General is the highest official). He has a rank of Ambassador.

The function is usually performed by the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, and it exists in every country.

In addition, the Resident Coordinator is also responsible for the local administration of the staff rules and various issues related to staff.
