Resen (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Peceн) is a village in Bulgaria, located about 20 kilometers north of the old university town of Veliko Tarnovo, just south of the River Rosica.
Resen has a few local bars, a modern pharmacy/parfumerie, a simple restaurant and, since the summer of 2007 when the village centre underwent extensive improvement, a well stocked medium sized supermarket. The village is served with broadband Internet access via a wireless network from the village Post Office.
Several English, Irish and Scottish families have bought and are renovating properties in the village, and recently it has become possible to stay in Resen at a guest house. There is also an English shop in the village centre selling imported food and treats from the UK that are not normally available in Bulgaria. With more and more UK citizens arriving in Bulgaria looking for a quite village with easy year round access to a larger town, Resen is set to become one of the most sought after villages. There is a rumour that an American diner style diner is set to open, with an attached deli bar, offering foods from America, Europe and Asia.
