Reseda High School, established in 1955, is located in the San Fernando Valley region of Reseda section of Los Angeles, California, United States.
The current principal of Reseda High is Alfredo Tarin. The mascot of Reseda High is the Regent, a lion welding a crown and a scepter. The school currently is home to the Reseda High School Science Magnet HS and the Reseda Police Academy Magnet HS, in addition to Reseda High.
The school, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Reseda High School has several programs. Among them are an active Humanities Academy, Multilingual Teachers Academy, Academic Decathlon Program, Navy Jr. ROTC, Urban Studies program, Health Occupations Students of America chapter, Science Bowl, AP Calculus courses, and the largest yearly high school science fair in the San Fernando Valley.
Reseda was used as the high school in the television series The Shield and in an episode of Commander in Chief, and also several episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Many locations of the campus appeared in the feature film Grosse Pointe Blank.
On Sunday, May 14, 2006, Big Sunday, hundreds of volunteers, organized by the office of Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, gathered at Reseda High and other locations around the city to help beautify communities, and begin the Mayor's program of adding one million trees to the city of Los Angeles.
In 2007, the campus was used as a location to film a music video for the song "Misery Business" by the alternative group, Paramore.
Reseda High School celebrated its 50th anniversary graduation with one of the highest valedictorian and honors rates in school history.
Reseda High School also has one of the few robotics teams in the San Fernando Valley.[1]

[edit] Reseda High School Science Magnet
The Reseda Science Magnet School is designed to give students a strong academic background in science, math and social responsibility. The program prepares students to be successful at the college level in the fields of medicine, physics, chemistry, engineering, geology and environmental science. To be successful in this program, a student must have a strong background in mathematics.
Students are offered three educational options: a medical option, an engineering option, and a geology/ environmental science option.

Reseda High School has one of the highest-placing NJROTC Units in the San Fernando Valley, which has placed second in its last two competitions at Cabrillo High School and La Habra High school, beating El Camino Real NJROTC in competition placing since the Area 11 Field Meet at Santa Ana High School. RHS NJROTC has been a distinguished unit for the last 3 years.
