Rescue!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rescue! is a Macintosh shareware computer game first released in April 1993 by Tom Spreen. Based on Star Trek: The Next Generation, it combined arcade-style action with strategy. The game's popularity drew the attention of Paramount, forcing Spreen to remove Star Trek-specific elements beginning with version 2.0.2.

Gameplay involves evacuating the residents of outlying colony worlds to the more defensible starbases, while fending off attacks from the Romulans (renamed ‘Rulans’ in the later versions.)

The game inspired many spin-offs by other authors, such as Rescue Max, Rescue Rangers, Rescue DS9 and EV Starfleet.
