Wikipedia talk:Requests for comment/Vintila Barbu

[edit] I would really like to see this answered

I would be a lot more comfortable if Vintila would say straight out, "No, I have not taken material verbatim from anywhere except where I have explicitly given credit." But he has not said that on the various talk pages. Instead, we have had "non-denial denials": "how odd you would think that", etc. That is much of why I brought this to an RFC. - Jmabel | Talk 07:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I understand why you say that this looks like plagiarism. However, that is a serious accusation and I would be a lot more comfortable if you could point to an article, or a paragraph, or even a sentence, and show a source that it had been copied from. (I tried to find one myself, comparing the passages you referred to in the Pitesti Prison articles to the Bacu reference used to suppor them). Without that, it is hard to make a case. - Eron Talk 14:29, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
We now have an explicit denial of plagiarism, rather than just a "non-denial denial". I'm ready to assume good faith, but suspect Dahn is not, and certainly Vintila at this point considers himself to have a grievance against Dahn. I think it would be a good idea for the two of them to request mediation. - Jmabel | Talk 03:23, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I will no longer be active

I will no longer be active in most of Wikipedia (not a complete departure, but certainly not participating in RFCs for the foreseeable future unless one is started about me). So if there is further sorting out here, it will have to be without me. - Jmabel | Talk 18:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
