[edit] Dispute resolution

Before I provide my summary over this matter, may I stress the following points from WP:RFC, that "at least two people should have contacted the user on their talk page, or the talk pages involved in the dispute, and tried but failed to resolve the problem...The evidence, preferably in the form of diffs, should not simply show the dispute itself, but should show attempts to find a resolution or compromise." (emphasize added).

I would like to see how this section actually demonstrates this effort.--Huaiwei 16:21, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Advice on presentation of evidence

Enochlau, you write that quoting whole sentences relevant to the points you make is easier to read (than just providing diffs, I suppose you mean). Yes, it is, it's a good idea to quote briefly, the way you do. But you must also provide diffs. The purpose of them is to let the reader check what you say, as well as look up and read the context of any quote, should he/she want to. Diffs are quite essential. (Huawei, btw, note that this is advice for you too, when/if you come to write your response.) Bishonen | talk 18:36, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for the advice, thou I am not too sure what "diffs" actually refer to. Would be glad if you could advice/clarify further. Thanks in advance.--Huaiwei 20:14, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
He wants you to show the individual edits that differentiate what you said [1] from the background noise. ie, that was a diff. SchmuckyTheCat 20:41, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Oic. Thanks! ;)--Huaiwei 20:42, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Yes (except I'm not a he). To produce a diff, go to the page history and locate the edit you want to refer to. Right-click on the "last" button next to it, to bring up the context menu, from which you select "Copy link location" (or however your browser puts the same thing). The diff has now been copied to your clipboard, and can be pasted where you want it. Bishonen | talk 00:01, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
