[edit] UPDATE: This RfC is now MOOT

UPDATE: Barbara Schwarz has been banned by the Salt Lake City Library, the University of Utah, and the LDS Church (the three sites mentioned in the RfC), from using their computers any longer due to her multiple year spam and abuse run on USENET and the internet in general. It is no longer neccessary to make your comments about this user.

Thankfully UEN was able to isolate this particular user and ban them from their facilities, and apparently the LDS Church has also banned her. So we got the complete trifecta covered in the last month.

This is a much better solution than having Wikipedia block the Univ. of Utah, SLC Public Library, and the LDS Church.

Of course she is now using AOL to post to USENET, but thats another story we won't need to get into on this RfC anymore. Vivaldi 11:06, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I heard about it last night when she exposed my...umm, uhh..."confidential" personal information to Usenet where everyone can see it. I couldn't resist replying to her once, though I'm just going to ignore it from now on. Somehow I doubt her rantings will cause any problems in the long run. --Modemac 12:21, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Whats the point?

Okay...I assume the point of this RfC is to get an endorsement for completely blocking off the known I.P. addresses used by Barbara Schwarz. If so, then I'm for it.  :) Actually, this may be a newsworthy event in itself, because it means that out of necessity, Wikipedia would be blocking all edits made from three public libraries in that vicinity. If a full block goes into effect, then we may actually want to contact their local newspaper (probably the same one that did the original expose of Schwarz) and make them aware of it. --Modemac 19:40, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

I think it's worth pointing out that Barbara did not confine this debate to Wikipedia; through Google Groups, she has taken it to Usenet as well. You may draw your own conclusions from that. 206.114.20.121 16:52, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WP:VIP

Just curious, has this been taken to WP:VIP per the recommendations on the main page? Soltak | Talk 17:07, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
