[edit] Reverts, moves, & edit summaries
I'll recuse myself from expressing any opinion due to past conflicts with the candidate and the suspicion that I am irredeemably prejudiced here. Instead, let's have some fascinating diffs, all of which relate to the last month.
Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Provence passes three uneventful years until it is moved by Michael. Six minutes later Srnec moves it back. It only stays there for a minute until Michael moves it back. Four days pass and then Srnec moves the article back to the original name. Michael moves it back. At last we get some dialogue when Srnec leaves a message for Michael. However, some officious bastard moves it back to the original name, leaves a note on the talk page, and asks other editors to comment, which they did, although Michaelsanders did not.
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (names and titles) says "Most general rule overall: use the most common form of the name used in English". Which was why I moved it. Castigating me for adherence to the rules seems rather strange. I then sat back, looked around, and came to the conclusion that in this particular case a laissez-faire attitude would do no harm, since the name was often used in the Catalan form. I didn't contribute further to the discussion because I'd come to that conclusion, and the discussion there was proceeding well enough without me. Michael Sanders 19:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Michael often reverts with no edit summaries. The great ahnentafel kerfuffle wasn't so great. In general it looked like this: I remove ahnentafel: this information should be in the article text if it is important and nowhere if it is not important, revert by Sanders with no comment. Likewise Henry Stewart, Lord Darnley: me, Michaelsanders; Edward the Confessor: me, Michaelsanders, me fixing the inaccurate disputed table; William I of England: me, Michaelsanders; and so on. Lots of discussion at Talk:Louis V of France follows, but nothing much is contributed by Michael.
- What I objected to was you removing them because you didn't like them. I restored them, got discussion going. Discussion was fruitful, people with more meaningful contributions got involved, so I didn't see the need to stick my oar into the discussion further. Michael Sanders 19:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Or again here: Elonka does some copyediting on Louis IX of France, but Michael doesn't like it, or rather he doesn't like a small part of it, so he reverts the lot with no summary. Angus McLellan (Talk) 19:17, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- There is a summary. It says, "restoring images". Because I was restoring the images, that had been removed for what appeared to be an unjustified reason (which was then explained, and sorted out). Michael Sanders 19:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

- My apologies. You did indeed use an edit summary, although editors can decide for themselves whether that is an accurate description. It indubitably was a revert. Angus McLellan (Talk) 19:48, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
