[edit] In re minimal nominee replies to lengthy posts

In my answer to question #3, the examples (which were prompted by one of the editors whom I respect who agreed with the original suggestion back in April) were intended to be more or less illustrative, not to create a specific 'how well you deal with disagreement' [1] or 'proof of how good she is' [2] impression.

There are a few lengthy posts in the 'Oppose' and 'Neutral' sections. My responses to them, like my brief reply to an optional question, have been minimal. I think it would be inappropriate for me as the nominee to use this Rfa to attempt to persuade those who don't support it. — Athaenara 22:00, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I think you should answer Bishonen's remarks because she has included a question. She might change her non-vote. - Jehochman Talk 08:14, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
I appreciate your support and encouragement. I'll try to clarify my position.
In May, Giano II and Bishonen bombarded me with accusations for several hours on my talk page. I did answer them then. After some observations by an uninvolved editor, they finally stopped. I had never seen Giano II and Bishonen before that week and, until this week, I never saw them again. As per that experience in May (answering them had no effect on their hostility) and as I posted above (that I shouldn't attempt to dissuade from opposing), I felt it would be unwise to respond to them personally.
Geogre's description of my participation as 'throwing acronyms in lieu of discussion … power trip … petulant' etc.[3] is simply false, as an impartial reading of the article talk page section which he cited shows.
A few editors seemed to accept Justanother's interpretation[4] of some events in March, as they're free to do. I don't think an impartial reading of the context, which included several campaigns on two noticeboards, supports that interpretation. The claim that I was or am 'wound too tight and too quick on the trigger'[5] is contradicted by the reality: of more than 150 posts on the Afd talk page cited in the 'Optional' question, one[6] was mine; of more than 350 posts on that 4th Afd itself, two[7][8] were mine.
Earlier in March, in a post linked in Justanother's second[9] post in the 'Oppose' Rfa section, I had listed seven threads on BLP/N and commented on a current thread on COI/N. My characterization of what I termed 'the determined pursuit of filling up noticeboards' as 'a waste of time, space and energy'[10] may be wrong—maybe there were values there which I did not see—but it was a perception which is also addressed in Wikipedia:Etiquette#Other words of advice: remain focused on writing an encyclopedia, not on Usenet-style debate.
Other details could be mentioned (like a post[11] which belies 'there isn't really any input by you worth mentioning'[12]), but I don't really want to invest more of my editing time in a link-by-link guide. Is this reasonable? — Athaenara 18:08, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
