[edit] Snowball promotion?

Unless there is a wager going on about whether this is going to hit 200, is there any reason to believe there is going to be a pile on opposition vote in the next few days? LessHeard vanU 21:37, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I'd say let the nomination run its course, it doesn't do any harm to wait the full seven days. Melsaran (talk) 21:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Why the rush? Let AD have the glory of being on WP:200 :D Majorly (talk) 21:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
I guess not, but it would be a nice change... I reckon 170 - 180 with a doubling of the opposes (possibly to do with WP:Point, or something) ;~). LessHeard vanU 21:46, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
I actually dont know if it will make 150, to be honest. I mean - it has slowed down so much. I don't mind either way. I'm just happy (and surprised!) I even got to the 50 mark, let alone 100! -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 21:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
3 hours before the close... just you wait! Anyhow, this gives me the opportunity to be the very first to congratulate you on being handed the mop (and I guess that I had best promise you mine if this blows up in our face!) LessHeard vanU 21:53, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
I tihnk congratulations might still be a bit premature, but thanks all the same. Cheers -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 21:57, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
(ec) Looking at rate of supports in the successful 200 nominations, the % of the end total support which occured within the first 48 hours of the seven-day discussion is pretty high. The figures are 67%, 45%, 62%, 71%, and 64% of the total support within the first two days. If support was linear, it'd be at 29%. Daniel 22:00, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Those are some interesting figures... -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 22:03, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I once nominated someone and his RfA was closed as successful at 98/0/0 after 6 days. The 'crat who closed it early never answered the question whether this was an early WP:SNOW promotion, or if he'd just miscounted the days. Newyorkbrad 22:13, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Well of course the 'crat never counted the days... it was just that one day convinced the 'crat that it was worth 2 and he closed it as consensus achieved! LessHeard vanU 22:16, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
It is a nice way to validate someone and spread some goodwill though...(supporting on an RfA that is) and plenty of folk don't tune in for days or weeks at a time..cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 22:25, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Snowball promotes are inappropriate uses of the bureaucrat tools, in my opinion. --Deskana (apples) 22:38, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
