Wikipedia:Requests for unblock

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Requests for unblock is when a blocked user believes that his or her blocking from editing has been unjust and wishes to contest the block. It is often used when administrators make mistakes in policy, or maybe that that editor was involved in a dispute and was unfairly treated.

The template below is added to a user's talk page (which can still be edited when blocked), by adding the code {{unblock|Reason}}

This blocked user has requested to be unblocked. The reason given is: Reason
Administrators: If there is a legitimate reason to remove the block, please do so; otherwise, please leave a note to that effect on the user's talk page. In either case, please remove this template once you're done.
Blocked editor: If the block message says that your IP address is blocked or that your IP address was recently used by a blocked user, please paste the block message or post your IP address below as we have no way of unblocking you if your username itself was not blocked.

where "reason" is substituted with why that user should be unblocked. The user talk page will then be listed in Category:Requests for unblock. An admin patrolling that category will then address the matter and decide the course of action.
