In order to remain listed at Wikipedia:Requests for comment, at least two people need to show that they tried to resolve a dispute with this user and have failed. This must involve the same dispute with a single user, not different disputes or multiple users. [edit] Desired outcome

  • For Vergina to cease using his userpage as a soapbox
  • For Vergina to return to constructive editing in article space
  • For Vergina to cease making inflammatory comments on talk pages
  • Preferably, for Vergina to change his username

[edit] Description

Vergina (talk · contribs) is a user strongly identifying with and promoting an ethnic Greek national point of view on Macedonian issues. His contributions to article name space have focused on articles dealing with the politics and ideologies of this subject (e.g. Macedonians (ethnic group), Macedonian language, Republic of Macedonia etc.) and have often been controversial. However, this is not the focus of the present dispute.

Vergina has never noticeable edited constructively.

However, during all these months he has continually been present working on his userpage, which he uses as a political soapbox promoting nationalist ideas. His first userpage, to which he had made between March 2004 and June 2006, cut down for containing inappropriate political material in June 2006 by myself, along with several subpages [1]. Since then, he has accumulated a number of edits on new versions, always with explicit propagandistic content.

There have also been concerns that the problem of his page is exacerbated by his user name. Usage of the term "Vergina" (referring to the Vergina Sun) is a political topic between nationalists from the Republic of Macedonia and nationalists from Greece. Employed as a username it may be seen as "inflammatory" and hence against our user-name policy.

There have been numerous attempts at persuading him to change his user name and/or to change his user page, and on several occasions admins have seen fit to forcibly remove content from his page. He has consistently refused to comply with these requests beyond what was immediately forced on him.

With thanks to Fut. Perf. for his edits on Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Macedonia

While I appreciate the good intention behind this copy-cat'ing of my RfC for Macedonia, I note that Vergina hasn't edited in over four months. So I guess as a real "user conduct" RfC it's a bit moot. Let's just agree on deleting his user page, which is indeed not helpful to the project. Fut.Perf. 15:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
