From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In order to remain listed at Wikipedia:Requests for comment, at least two people need to show that they tried to resolve a dispute with this user and have failed. This must involve the same dispute with a single user, not different disputes or multiple users. The persons complaining must provide evidence of their efforts, and each of them must certify it by signing this page with ~~~~. If this does not happen within 48 hours of the creation of this dispute page (which was: 06:02, 5 June 2006 (UTC)), the page will be deleted. [edit] Statement of the dispute

This is a summary written by users who dispute this user's conduct. Users signing other sections ("Response" or "Outside views") should not edit the "Statement of the dispute" section.

[edit] Description

User:Hatto has shown continued resolve to continue as a non-cooperative POV inforcing user, with little regards for Wikipedia's policies and attempting to influence article content. He frequently deletes content in talk pages and copywrite warnings, repeatedly reverts articles without consulting with fellow editors and generally has a tendancy to attempt ownership of articles disallowing other editors who are intent on improving the quality of the articles he creates.

The mediation cabal already attempted this case but as Hatto never responds to any criticism the case was dropped and the advisor recommended he be reported to an admin as a plain vandal.

He has a tendancy to defend his edits by claiming that the article can have any and all information that is available, without any regard to quality or the notability of information in articles. He is a big fan of Masashi Tashiro and attempts to add references to him and his acts in every possible article, often in small articles where Masashi Tashiro is of very negligible significance.

Numerous users have attempted to stop him by commenting on his talk page (at one time using 211.15.48.50 (talk · contribs) and 61.26.82.238 (talk · contribs), but he frequently deletes their comments and it is hard to track exactly how much non-productive editing he's done. Recent suspect edits suggest he is now using the IP 124.98.230.22 (talk · contribs) as well.

He is a Japanese user and writes article in English (with jumpy, but fair English) and does not respond to attempts at discussion in English or Japanese (I can speak both rather fluently).

I have until recently attempted to co-exist with Hatto, as outside his favourite subject matter he often makes good contributions, and I even invited him to Wikipedia:WikiProject Owarai but after giving so many warnings about all sorts of policies and seeing him ignoring other peoples requests all the same I can no longer edit alongside Hatto in peace and something has to be done so I can continue work on improving articles for the project.

[edit] Evidence of disputed behavior

(Provide diffs. Links to entire articles aren't helpful unless the editor created the entire article. Edit histories also aren't helpful as they change as new edits are performed.)

  1. [1] When three of his images were listed for copywrite violations he first deletes all the warnings from his talk page...
  2. [2] deletes the Wikipedia tags from all three of the images attempting to have the warning overturned...
  3. [3] deleted warning image 2...
  4. [4] deleted warning image 3...
  5. [5] and then proceeds to remove the Copywrite problems listing, all of these actions without any attempt at discussion and no regard for the policies of Wikipedia
  6. [6] second deletion at Copywrite problems, this time claiming nomination "unfair"
  7. [7] second deletion of copywrite warning, labels them as "vandalism"...
  8. [8] second deletion of copywrite warning on image 2...
  9. [9] second deletion of copywrite warning on image 3...
  10. [10] [11] [12] Without logging in, makes small edits using IP 61.26.82.238 (talk · contribs) (e.g. increasing size of images for no reason in some of his favourite articles) which get reverted...
  11. [13] [14] [15] Then using a separate IP 211.15.48.50 (talk · contribs) he ignores the revert and perform the same image enlargening editions again without any attempt at discussion or reasoning
  12. [16] Some more misc. mischief warnings that are deleted from his talk page at 211.15.48.50 (talk · contribs)
  13. [17] Hatto shows similar conduct in the Japanese Wikipedia, where he destructively edits his favourite article Masashi Tashiro and causes it to be protected, mostly because of Hatto's constant reverts (along the lines of "I think it's important, so you can't delete it... revert") it has been permanently protected (since april 27). The last user (at the top) quotes "blocked because of edit wars". Other users battling with Hatto quote "please discuss your edits on the talk page", "removing spam", "reverting nonsense", "removing unrelated information", etc. Administration is much looser on Japanese wiki but his conduct seems to be the same no matter where he goes.
  14. [18] [19] [20] Hatto restores an image he uploaded immediately after it gets deleted for violating copywrites, and then reverts a series of edits by admins relating to the image. No reasoning is given and there is no attempt at discussion.
  15. [21] Again, another deletion of a copywrite warning. A vandalism warning was left on his talk page, obviously ignored as usual.
  16. [22] Hatto restores an image he uploaded FOR THE SECOND TIME immediately after it gets deleted twice for violating copywrites, and then reverts a series of edits by admins relating to the image. No reasoning is given and there is no attempt at discussion.
  17. [23] 8h block for breaking 3RR over reverts on Masashi Tashiro.
  18. [24] Removed my comment on the Masashi Tashiro talk page, where I explained why I had made some changes to it. (Mackan 06:13, 1 August 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Evidence of trying and failing to resolve the dispute

(provide diffs and links)

  1. [25] dropped Mediation due to lack of cooperation by user Hatto
  2. [26] Hatto removes all enquiries regarding his disputable conduct from his talk page without any discussion in order to deflect any blame and force other users into giving up
  3. [27] Warnings from administer to reduce image size (and stop increasing it) as well as paying attention to Wikipedia's copywrite policy deleted (presumed ignored)
  4. [28] Repeat warning from User:Kcordina to stop removing copywrite warnings

  3. Numorous other users listing complains on Hatto's talk pages
  4. Mackan (talk · contribs) I originally posted below because I wasn't involved but after doing some changes to the Masashi Tashiro article he has reverted my changes twice without providing any reason (even though I asked for one and posted on his talk page).Mackan 16:45, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other users who endorse this summary

  1. I have been involved to the extent of deleting the copyright violations - as the diff's above show efforts were made to get the correct copyright status, but the request was ignored, and subsequently the images were recreated after deletion. Kcordina Talk 15:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
  1. I found this user's behaviour slightly disrusptive on Swedish Wikipedia as well, reverting people's changes on certain articles and deleting criticism from his talk page. Also changing the name order (against the Swedish Wikipedia's guidelines on Japanese names) on certain articles, like Suzuki Sarina. He seems obsessed with having the Masashi Tashiro article as big as possible, with as many translations as possible, for no apparent reason (is he somehow affiliated with 2chan? is this yet another prank like the 2001 TIME Magazine person of the year prank?). Mackan 09:54, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
  2. Hatto has serious ownership issues with the Masashi Tashiro article, constantly reverting productive edits without even commenting, much less discussing properly on the talk page. I am not involved in editing the article, but have been watching it for a while now. I will start to try to clean it up tonight. Hatto, refuses to yield to or even discuss consensus.--WilliamThweatt 03:11, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Total outsider view. From the talk page, assuming the translation is correct which I can not control for I do not speak neither understand Japanese. We can read written by Hatto 04:48, 9 June 2006 (UTC) : First, I want to contribute freely, as I like, and why do you have to remove my contributions? That's what I want to know.. Well, it is utterly simple:

  • I want to contribute freely : you can not not and must not do that.
  • as I like : you can not not and must not do that.
  • ...That's what I want to know : read the manual.

Wikipedia is not your site, WP is not anarchy, WP is not what you like. This shows plain misunderstanding or will to disrupt the system. WP has no time to spend with that. This user must amend very quick, or plainley be banned. We have seen too many of those me-me-me users. I suggest this user to read all the how to's, the manuals, the tutorials in order to understand that WP is not his/her toy. What Japanese WP is or not, is irrelevant. 1. Thanks for the comment, and I agree. If you look at the steps I and other users have taken to educate this user in the past 6 months though, you can see that the user has been repeatedly warned, and been politely requested to change his ways. It is not a simple case of misunderstanding, this user has no concept of cooperation and further baby-handling is just a waste of time.  freshofftheufoΓΛĿЌ  01:16, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
