[edit] Sm565

  • User:Sm565 was a single purpose account that was banned on 16 October, 2007
  • Sm565 only edited Homeopathy or user talk pages of those editors who were involved in the article.
  • Sm565 exhibited tendentious editing of both the article and talk page of the article, especially with metanalyses.
  • User:Area69 is a single purpose account, just editing Homeopathy. Please see his contributions
  • Area69 also exhibits an interesting passion about metanalyses here. The diff also exposes a similar spelling style that Sm565 utilized throughout his contributions.
  • Area69's first edit was on Homeopathy, discussing metanalyses.
  • Area69 has a predilection for adding new sections on Talk:Homeopathy similar to Sm565. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Orangemarlin (talkcontribs)

[edit] Sm565

The sockpuppet is apparently a SPA. User:Naftilos has only made four edits, all to the article Homeopathy or its talk page. User:Naftilos's only edits added POV tags to the article. User:Sm565, who has been involved in an ongoing edit war/content dispute, has made the exact same edit (placing a POV tag) 3 times in a five hour period. I have not been involved in this dispute (see history) and have only made one edit to this article (reverting Naftilos's edit.) Here are the 5 diffs: 1st revert, 2nd revert, 1st sockpuppet edit (add POV tag), 2nd sockpuppet edit (add POV tag), 3rd revert. — DIEGO talk 10:45, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

See also Talk:Homeopathy#POV for a more detailed account of my suspicions (and Sm565's reaction, prior to being blocked User talk:Sm565#Blocked). — DIEGO talk 18:25, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I would be interested in the result of this; Sm565 has a peculiar editing history - some 480 edits since account creation in late September, all relating to the Homeopathy article. I suspect there is a "parent" account behind these. Neil  15:43, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
As would I. I do not know if this user is indeed using sockpuppets, however I do think that a checkuser is warranted given the evidence. Wikidudeman (talk) 16:27, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
What follows is idle speculation - feel free to move it into the discussion section. It's very possible that Naftilos=sm565. Sm565's writing has some, er, unique syntactical properties. He tends to finish sentences with a 5-period ellipse like this..... (ask me for diffs - Talk:Homeopathy is littered with examples) which is just how Naftilos ended his comment here[1]. From a quick google search, I gather that the word "Naftilos" is associated with the Greek islands in the Aegean sea. We had many, many problems with SPA accounts and IPs from that specific geographic area during the George Vithoulkas AFD debates here and here. It's likely one of them reincarnated as Naftilos/sm565. Is there a reason this request hasn't been transcluded onto the main checkuser page? Cheers, Skinwalker 16:53, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Though I should also point out that the IP listed above resolves to Brooklyn, NY - quite a distance from the Aegean Sea. Skinwalker 16:55, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

wow there is a whole investigation going on here.!!--Sm565 02:46, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Unrelated, and no sign of open proxies, either. Dmcdevit·t 23:35, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
