[edit] Sarsaparilla

Code letter: F ([1])

Supporting Evidence

  • Sarsaparilla was heavily involved in the delegable proxy proposal; CCAEMR proposes something similar here.
  • SpiritWorldWiki (talk · contribs), a Sarsaparilla sock, proposed development of a Wiki where deleted articles would go until they could be repaired to meet Wikipedia's standards; CCAEMR discusses Deletionpedia, a similar (though not identical) site, here.
  • Sarsaparilla repeatedly self-identified as a libertarian; CCAEMR edits mostly on drug policy, an area of substantial interest for libertarians.
  • Obuibo Mbstpo (talk · contribs), a Sarsaparilla sock, created Wikiproject Parliamentary Procedure early in his editing career, and then created a whole mess of new articles to fall under the project. CCAEMR is doing something very similar with drug policy: [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], etc.

Sarcasticidealist (talk) 18:43, 27 April 2008 (UTC) Update After CCAEMR started editing articles on parliamentary procedure ([7] for example) I've decided I'm comfortable blocking per WP:DUCK. I'll leave this request open in case a check user feels that a check is warranted (also, based on past behaviour there are almost certainly several more Sarsaparilla socks about, but I'm not sure if doing a check on that basis would constitute fishing). An interested CheckUser could also confirm

Updated: I've blocked Muskratatouille as an obvious sock, as he showed up at Talk:Proxy voting mere minutes after the indef block of Chin Chill-A Eat Mor Rodents. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 01:54, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Comment: Black Kite, reverted some IP edits at ANI. Perhaps you should consider checking these IPs. Notice, for example, the edit summaries here. Something seems up, but I am not sure who is all involved, which is why I am suggesting it to you. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 03:34, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Confirmed both Chin Chill-A and Muskratatouille. Thatcher 11:12, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sarsaparilla

User:Sarsaparilla is a banned user with a large sock farm (confirmed, suspected). Of late, his socks have been primarily engaged in editing articles covered by WikiProject Parliamentary Procedure, itself founded by Sarsaparilla sock User:Obuibo Mbstpo. Normally these edits are unsubtle enough to block on sight without a checkuser, but Starvation mode has made edits outside of the area, which is inconsistent with the other socks' behaviour, so I thought a checkuser would be advisable. Evidence:

  • Without having displated any previous interest in parliamentary procedure articles, Starvation mode came in and added Template:Cite parl (which was created by a Sarsaparilla sock) to the WP:WPPP page [9])
  • Like Sarsaparilla's other socks, Starvation mode and SLN uses the text of his edits as his edit summaries. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 18:23, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
  • SLN's first edits were template creations, which is hardly suggestive of a new user: [10]
  • SLN has created and extensively edited Stopping the clock, an article on a parliamentary procedure-related topic.
  • SLN has feuded with User:Fredrick day and his IP socks ([11], [12], [13], [14], [15], [16], [17]); Fredrick day and Sarsaparilla were involved in a major feud.
  • As with many Sarsaparilla socks, SLN uses a full name as a username.

[case filed by User:Sarcasticidealist]

This user newly registers and is clearly familiar with Wikipedia, that and the parlipro edit could indicate Sarsaparilla. I have not thoroughly reviewed all the edits, but tangling with Fredrick day is a pretty strong clue. I do see a basis for checkuser. Even though I'm a strong supporter of Sarsaparilla and think his ban excessive. The edits re Fredrick day that I have seen are accurate as to Fd's activities, though I have not reviewed them all. If this were an ordinary very active editor, what I've seen so far would be fine. But indication that it is Sarsaparilla is strong.--Abd (talk) 20:30, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed - all of the above, plus:
  1. Mr. Ambassador (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log)
  2. Yttik Noiram (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log)
  3. Blueman onions (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log)
  4. Through the law (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log)
  5. Obuibo Mbstpo (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log) - just for the record, already blocked as a suspect
