[edit] Highshines

  • Code letter: C

TYK1986 has started making edits again, that are similar in nature to Highshines's edits, i.e. undiscussed page moves, uploading of likely copyrighted material and enlargement of pictures, etc. TYK1986 has posted a message to Highshines talk page, but it looks like a maneuver to create apperance of two distinct users.--Niohe 01:53, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Unrelated. Essjay (Talk) 05:28, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Are you absolutely positive? I don't know exactly how you check the users, but I do know that Highshines IP socks all have two things in common: they edit the same group of pages and the IPs all emanate from the same city in North America. Take a look at the IP addresses below and check them against the established socks below and suspected socks of Highshines:

User: TYK1986 is not my "sockpuppet", Niohe. Untag him. There are times when I used a public computer and realized that I have not signed in. Also, there are times when I forgot my username and started a new account. Don't you allow a newcomer to make some errors? Calm down, Niohe, don't become paranoid. The professional usercheckers rarely make a false conclusion. Highshines 04:14, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

You are not a newcomer making errors, you have been around for as long as I have - or even longer. And saying that you forgot your username, is simply not credible. You just check the edit history of Highshines, Geisha1021 and 108059, and you will see that you jump back and forth between using these accounts and several IP addresses. This seems to suggest that you are trying to cover up your tracks and create a sense of consensus, this was particularly apparent when you started a huge undicussed page move campaign. That kind of behavior is generally not accepted at Wikipedia. Besides, if it were true that you had lost your password or whatevere, you could have told us what was going on then. What's the point of saying this now?--Niohe 23:28, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Jiang, you must explain why simplified characters are vandalic. They are now the offical characters of China. They represent China, and your traditional characters now can only represent Taiwan. Highshines 04:18, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I would say because of WP:NPOV. While it is the viewpoint of China now that the simplified characters are to be used, it is not the viewpoint of Taiwan. As far as Wikipedia policy is concerned both meet standards of verifiability. What would probably be appropriate is to include both character useages in the articles in question and identify them as such.
And don't ask me why I'm here or how I got dragged into this, because I really don't know myself. Just randomly passing through. -- Y|yukichigai (ramble argue check) 23:32, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Highshines

  • Code letter: C

Here is an example how User:Highshines is trying to move pages repeatedly using different user names to create a sense of consensus.

Please check the abovementioned user, who seems to have been making unwarranted pages moves by using different sock puppets. The page moves have created unnecessary double redirects, and the user has not been willing to discuss changes with other editors. Compare the contributions of the four differenr user accounts above and you will discern a clear pattern. It seems that User:Highshines has started a new page move campaign, and it is very tiring for other editors to clean up the mess and restore pages.--Niohe 02:49, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

In addition to unilaterial page moves and unwillingness to engage in communication, the users named above have made generally disrupted edits, such as removing article categories. In addition, the user accounts have all been uploading a whole host of unsourced images, some of which have been already deleted.--Jiang 03:44, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Added another user to the list, his/her edit patterns is strikingly similar to Highshines.--Niohe 22:12, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Added yet another IP address.--Niohe 03:57, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Additional examples of vandalism by this user(s):

  • diff 1 - changing traditional characters to simplified,
  • diff 2 - removing birth and death year categories
  • diff 3 - some of the same.

Confirmed all except TYK1986, who may be distinct. Also, the check discovered the socks Lizongna (talk · contribs) and 李综纳 (talk · contribs) as well. Dmcdevit·t 18:59, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
You did not mention what measure you will take and I noted that no tag has been posted to the puppet master and his/her socks. Will you take care of that?--Niohe 22:18, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Additional accounts
  • Code letter: C

It seems that we have another sock puppet.--Niohe 00:59, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Added another new, suspicious account.--Niohe 00:42, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Added two more of the same; blocking them upon discovery.--Jiang 07:47, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
