- Hermitian (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser)
- Code letter: G.
- Supporting evidence: Dirac was recently banned for being a reincarnation of this user. Dirac had previously informed me in confidence that he was a first time user. The lack of justification for the block concerns me greatly. digitalemotion 03:52, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- The block was only issued after confirmation by checkuser. Further check is unnecessary. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 05:35, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I find it hard to believe that this editor would cheat, but no one can argue with electronic evidence. The editor is still insistent that he did not operate the account of Hermitian, though. See his talk page:
I note the blocking admin is claiming that IP logs prove I am this other user. I should point out that I am accessing Wikipedia through a large anonymous dial-up PPP network which serves New England and Washington State, AND HAVE NO FIXED IP. Plenty of people edit Wikipedia who are on this network, and it has a large IP space, and there are many edits on Wikipedia from this network both from anonymous IPs and from users with Wikipedia accounts. So not only is such a claim without merit, but it is not possible for such proof to exist. It would be like saying that two people editing from aol.com must be the same individual.
I hope that I'm not bidding on behalf of a cheat, but I really think that you should get a second opinion on this, and set the checkuser out in the normal "official" fashion. GrooV 07:36, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Subsequent requests related to this user should be made above, in a new section.
