[edit] Downtrip 2

Numerous Wikzilla vandalisms tonight, obvious socks with the account names for the last two listed accounts, and indef blocked on that basis. See... oh, for example, [1] edit summary "What happened FREEPSBANE YOU LOATHSOME PIECE OF SHIT. Big bad WIKZILLA is after your trolling ass and now you are afraid to come out and play. Crawl out from under your rock ar sovereignty". Plenty more in the contribs on listed... see Freepsbane's talk page history for more.

Primary reason for the CU, most of these being blocked as obvious, is appearance of Ptgreen (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) who was created when Wikzilla was initially blocked, has had no contributions until today, and then dropped an agree message on Fourth generation jet fighter in a thread mostly populated by other WZ socks. Timing looks very suspicious for him to be a sleeper account. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 04:37, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed - all of the above
IP blocked - where I could - Alison 05:06, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Downtrip

Relevant IP edits [8] [9] [10] [11] Banofreep edits: [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] Downtrip is a user found by a previous Checkuser case to have used Sock IP addresses for “Tag-team edit warring”. He was also found to be a“Likely” new account of Wikzilla (talk contribs logs block user block log checkuser)Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Wikzilla a user indefblocked for vandalism and sockpuppetry. However despite blocks to his new account he has persisted in edit warring on aeronautic articles in a aggressive manner. In a telling sign he has focused on the same article that resulted in the ban of his Wikizilla account: the fourth generation jet fighter article virtually all of his and wikizilla’s edits have been with the intent of removing several paragraphs that focus on international studies. A check of the history of the page shows that Downtrip and a few recently registered single purpose accounts and IP addresses (suspected to be his) have been almost continually involved in editwaring [17]; a quick check of the accounts/addresses in question and their contributions shows that they have only edited over the topic of contention with a identical style. The only socks I have are on my feet. Take a look at the IPs from the first accusation Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Wikzilla. Do a who is on the IPs and you will see that they came from Verizon and they had two unique 16 bit subnets that give you a possibility of 2 to the 16th (over 65,000) hosts for each subnet. I admitted in the past and it was confirmed that those IPs where me as well. It was when I first started editing and did not know about how wiki caches pages. As for Dmcdevit's "conclusion" that it is likely that I am a sock of Wickzilla I seriously doubt that he or she knows what she is doing. Inferring by what is being said my block of IPs match the ones Wickzilla uses. Big deal. Verizon covers most of the country and they have not two but literally dozens of 16 bit subnets (65,000 hosts each) to use. I chose not to argue the point and figured it would all go away but obviously I was wrong. It appears there are people here that go about making slanderous remarks about others with some pretty flimsy evidence. It really is a shame that the abuse I have endured by Freepsbane is allowed to continue. I think in the end it drives good editors away. You see due to Dmcdevit's mistake he was emboldened to take the issue further when I attempted to clarify some of the remarks in the 4 gen fighter entry. Take a look again at his latest witch hunt Downtrip. Do a whois on the IPs. It's not me. When it comes back as negative or is declined I hope the admins make the right decision and discipline him for hounding me as he has. I hope that some sort of action is taken against Freepsbane. I also suggest you look at the discussion in the Eurofighter entry. This is all just sour grapes on Freepsbane's part.--Downtrip (talk) 03:09, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Not sure about IPs, but I do believe that Banofreep is a Downtrip's sock-puppet, created to establish and escalate edit war. TestPilot 07:54, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Clerk note: Moved some discussion to talk. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Note that Downtrip's comment "Inferring by what is being said my block of IPs match the ones Wickzilla uses. Big deal. Verizon covers most of the country and they have not two but literally dozens of 16 bit subnets (65,000 hosts each) to use." is completely wrong. That's not how CheckUser works, and if we are in a situation where it is so ambiguous, we wouldn't give a definite result. Note also that he seems not to understand or admit that IPs give geographical information, not just the ISP they belong to, even if it's a nationwide ISP.
Having said that, Possible. Dmcdevit·t 22:53, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
It is also possible that I am the Easter Bunny. Yea, right geographical as in the entire New York metropolitan area, what does that give us Dmcdevit? About 20 million people? Chkeckuser is nothing more than matching a userid to an IP address and then running a whois against it. By your logic all of Manhattan island could be possible sock puppets of each other. Why don't you go look at Freepsbane and his socks. That's a clear cut case if ever there was one. Sorry for the incivility but your ineptitude has been very un helpful Dmcdevit. I was willing to let the first one go but I am tired of this "Star Chamber" treatment.--Downtrip (talk) 06:07, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
And if all of Manhattan turns up and starts edit-warring over the same articles things will have come to a pretty pass indeed. You've been warned. Mackensen (talk) 06:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Don't make a public showing of your stupidity Mackensen. While I am not so sure about New York with multiple ISPs and gateways, it seems all of Atlanta was showing upon a DSL line. So what is it you are warning me about?--Downtrip (talk) 07:19, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, I was going to suggest that extricating one's foot from one's mouth is a disagreeable procedure. Mackensen (talk) 07:27, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
