[edit] Dmits

I previously filed at WP:SSP Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Dmits (with diffs), on reviewing evidence there, Jehochman suggested I file a request here under code F, and that I should "Request the entire sock drawer emptied and you want these accounts tied to the puppetmaster, if possible". Unfortunately I wasn't around at the weekend, so I've only just caught up, and this may now be stale. David Underdown (talk) 17:40, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Additional information needed Dmits has been blocked indefinitely as a vandal and Rattus nonnus is pretty obviously a sock. What is the underlying dispute here, and is there another account you suspect of involvement? Or are you asking us to go fishing for someone behind the scenes? Thatcher 18:43, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I was fairly happy with the outcome so far, as I say, by bringing it here I was merely following Jehochman's suggestion, as it felt that there must be more underlying it. I'll ask him to comment here. David Underdown (talk) 19:21, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Red flag The first edits of both accounts are harassment directed at you. [1][2] The conclusion at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Dmits was to increase the block from 48 hours to indefinite on the master account. The suspected sock remains unblocked because we are unsure if it is the same. If it is a sock, there could be others. Jehochman Talk 20:15, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  • The reason I asked is that the IP has a lot of users on it, but it is possibly shared, so without knowing something about any underlying dispute to be able to check against edit patterns, I am going to have to give a more limited answer. Confirmed that Dmits and Rattus novus are the same user, along with Alpha0000 (talk · contribs) and NoUserName666 (talk · contribs). Thatcher 12:58, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
The only other time I can think of I've had an issue with someone using socks against me was this case Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Thedec‎ (as I recall he was from West Yorkshire somewhere, on the off-chance taht stacks up with the IP), and I doubt there's now any surviving technical evidence to connect the two, if indeed they were actually related at all. David Underdown (talk) 13:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Not enough to go on, then. Thatcher 14:08, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Clerk note: All 3 socks tagged and blocked. -- lucasbfr talk 14:10, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Note: It is a multi-user IP. I have edited (constructively) from it myself, and I am getting rather fed up of these individuals constantly getting the address blocked, or in the case of with accounts like these, autoblocked. With regard to this specific incident, I witnessed it myself, and can confirm what happened. Dmits and Rattus are not the same person, but are actually two different people, working together. I can't remember exactly why, but David Underdown (talk · contribs) did something which annoyed Dmits, or one of his other socks (he has at least two, but I cannot remember the names). I think he might have stuck a {{db}} tag on a nonsense article that Dmits, or a sock, wrote, but I'm not sure. Alternatively, he may just have been a randomly picked target who "annoyed" Dmits by removing the vandalism and sending him a warning. Dmits responded by placing profane content on David's page, and then Rattus posted the remark about the content to rub salt into the wound. All rather childish really. It is not in West Yorkshire, but in Somerset, so I doubt if the previous incident was related. Alpha0000 and NoUserName666 are socks of Rattus, not Dmits GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 17:29, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Note: I've remembered that Hot20024 (talk · contribs) (already indef. blocked) is the master account for Dmits. This attack against The Rambling Man (talk · contribs) is almost identical to one of the attacks that Dmits made against David. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 20:15, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. Under the circumstances I probably should have been more explicit about disabling the autoblock, but I did say it was a shared IP. Thatcher 23:04, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I think that QWERTY22341 (talk · contribs) (also indef blocked) is Dmits' other sock, but I can't remember for sure. If it were up to me, I'd just indefinately soft-block the IP with account creation disabled, and solve the problem that way. In my experience, Dmits and Rattus have been doing most of their vandalism on Tuesday mornings, Thursday afternoons, and about 1-2pm on Fridays. If I notice them creating any further socks, I'll let you know. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 01:17, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
The two accounts you mentioned are confirmed on that IP. I'll put in a medium-length rangeblock--indef is probably too long for the time being. Thatcher 01:49, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
