[edit] Devout Christian
- Devout Christian (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser)
The following users and anon IPs are suspected to be sockpuppets of Devout Christian (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser):
- Adult Film Actor (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser)
- Superior IQ Genuis (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser)
The following IPs have displayed similar editing patterns to the accounts above and are definitely the work of a single individual, it is unclear if they are also sockpuppets of the above individual.
- Registered to University of South Carolina (129.252.106.*)
- Registered to State of South Carolina (167.7.39.*)
- Other, possibly related.
For the past couple of weeks, there has been a series of persistent POV pushing on several Taiwan and China related articles (notably Taiwan and Republic of China), both by named users and anon IPs who have ignored numerous attempts at contact (See [1], User talk:Devout Christian). These edits have displayed similarities in both the edits made, and in the cases of the named accounts, display similar edit summaries. It is suspected that there is at least one (or two) individuals responsible for these edits. A WHOIS on the anon IPs used show that the IPs involved are all registered to the "State of South Carolina" or the "University of South Carolina".
All of the edits made by the aforementioned users have been in contravention of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese)#Political NPOV, and have in several cases involved the intentional insertion of incorrect information (insisting that the official state title is "Republic of China (Taiwan)" and replacing it throughout multiple articles [2] [3], despite the fact that the official title has remained unchanged, and prior consensus involves using the aforementioned term only in introductory sections); threatening the community with continued disruption if his/her edits are not accepted [4] [5]; and deletion of legitimate references to POVs that he/she does not approve of [6].
The purpose of this request is to ascertain two things:
Whether User:Adult Film Actor, User:Superior IQ Genuis, and User:24.88.124.252 are indeed sockpuppets of User:Devout Christian, andThe most recent edits from the first batch of named users and anon IPs have proved almost conclusively that they originate from the same individual, I will block all the named accounts except the primary one as abusive sockpuppets unless CheckUser indicates otherwise. The suspected IP socks have been blocked for 24 hours. However, the second request still stands. -Loren 22:28, 17 July 2006 (UTC)- Whether the aforementioned accounts are also related to the South Carolina IPs (resolving from ranges 129.252.106.* or 167.7.39.*).
Should some, or all of the above users be related, several blocks may be in order for disruption and threats thereof, intentional insertion of misinformation, and repeated violations of 3RR.

Clerk note: Comparison among Devout Christian, Adult Film Actor, Superior IQ Genuis, and 24.88.124.252 yeilds boatloads of evidence. I also perfomed a script assisted /24 IP range check of State of South Carolina and comparison against the four; not only is there a horde of suspicious editing of List of countries, Taiwan, and China articles, but the other edits are to pages like Developed country, which include adding Tawain information repeatedly. A check is definetely in order (unless it is too obvious) and a range block seems justified in my opinion. Voice-of-All 03:19, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Confirmed. All of it. I would support a range block. Mackensen (talk) 02:49, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Note: Since almost of the range's edits are the same sockpuppetry; I've performed a /24 range block. Voice-of-All 21:12, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
