BooyakaDell and this IP address are suspected of being sockpuppets of banned user JB196. JB196 is too old to submit for checkuser, but several editors have supported a circumstantial argument that BooyakaDell is a sockpuppet at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/BooyakaDell. It would help that case substantially to know whether BooyakaDell and this IP are the same editor. DurovaCharge! 20:28, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Declined. Please see Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/JB196. Essjay (Talk) 22:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Umm.. why declined? These two are active accounts (both have active edits yesterday).. JB196 is only peripherally involved. Durova put in this request just to determine if BooyakaDell is editing using the 67.86.149.41. Please explain if we're missing something.. (signing post) SirFozzie 23:06, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

- The other request was declined because it covered an AOL IP and an account that was too old to check. Here's a stable IP and an account that are both active. The similarities to the older request are purely superficial. Would it make a difference if I presented circumstantial evidence? This appears to be an unpublished author attempting to use Wikipedia for self-promotion; even the spelling mistakes are consistent. DurovaCharge! 23:07, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Note: It would help if you presented any evidence of a link between the account and the IP; all the original request said was "We think it's a sock of this guy. We can't check that, so tell us his IP." We don't do that. Essjay (Talk) 23:22, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

- Sure. First of all, the two accounts are editing professional wrestling (and ONLY professional Wrestling) articles in a chain, with the two accounts editing in a chain, first BooyakaDell, and then the IP address, then BooyakaDell, then the IP, and continues back and forth. They are never editing articles at the same time, as can be seen from their Contributions history [[1]] and [[2]]. Both accounts have added links to articles written by Jonathan Barber or inserted links crediting Jonathan Barber for information in articles. This is the link to JB196, discussed above. (from the IP) [[3]] [[4]] [[5]] [[6]], and from BooyakaDell [[7]]. Does this help, or would you like further examples (avalable from Derova's User Talk Page and the referenced RfC? Thanks :) SirFozzie 23:36, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Not sure it has been mentioned so wanted to clear up the link to JB196. JB196 has admitted to being Jonathan Barber, hence the direct link, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bleeding Was Only Half the Job Lethaniol 23:57, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Confirmed. Also appears to be BertoBowdoin (talk · contribs). Essjay (Talk) 00:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Poor Durova - thanks can get things sorted now - Lethaniol 00:20, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
