I will close this RfA early as the universal opinion expressed below is of lack of experience on the part of will merchant. This can only be resolved with dedicated application to tasks in the various spaces of Wikipedia, which will not occur in the next five days. (aeropagitica) 06:26, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi everyone, I think that I would be a good candidate for nomination because I care about making Wikipedia a better place for students wishing to gather information to write papers for school. Since being a student involves alot of time researching, I would like to help them by making Wiki a one stop shop for information. I don't want them to have to worry about people tampering with the info on the site so I would work diligently to stop other users from vandalizing the site. I would also like to share the information I know by contributing to the automotive section in that I am familiar. Thank you for allowing me a chance to help make this site better. --Will Merchant

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog and Category:Administrative backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
A: I plan to mainly serve to block users that have the primary wish to vandalize the site.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A: My contributions in the Saab 900 section are the sort of contributions I will be doing, and only in the subjects I truely know.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you believe other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: I haven't had any stress or conflicts over editing yet. But when I do, I will try my best to handle any conflict in a polite professional manner, just as if this was my job.

  1. Moral Support Your heart is in the right place. I suggest you spend at least 6 months at WP:FPC, WP:AFD, WP:RFA, WP:PUMP, WP:SSP, join some Wiki-projects, interact with the community (in general, besides all the administrative stuff), and fight vandals.   2. Moral Support - you're obviously making a good faith nomination, and your intentions are great, but you really need to spend time around Wikipedia first. Get involved in recent changes patrolling, articles for deletion, and contribute! Remember, we're an encyclopedia here, so try to get a featured article; it will greatly help with your next nomination. Cheers! Yuser31415 03:50, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Firm oppose per Fabricationary, who properly observes that there is, at the end of the day, no empirical record on which one might reasonably base any conclusions apropos of the candidate's fitness for adminship, such that one can in no way be certain that the net effect on the project of the candidate's becoming an admin should be positive.   8. Oppose. Your keenness is certainly appreciated, but you are not yet experienced enough to become an admin. Most successful admin candidates have made at least 2,000 Wikipedia edits, and a track record of several months as a consistent, positive contributor. This allows the community to develop the trust in them to agree to give them the adminship tools. Right now, just keep contributing as a regular editor becuase you don't need to be an admin to help build the encyclopedia.   1. Neutral - brand new editor; I was just about to drop off a welcome message, but got beaten to it a few seconds ago. Very few edits, although what I do see looks productive. Email not enabled. Stick around for awhile, until you're more familiar with the wiki, then try again if you like, eh? ;) It's an awfully big site, no need to take this step so soon.   2. Neutral: Since you say you're interested in blocking vandals, you should consider getting involved in the vandal fight now. You don't have to be an admin to revert vandalism and warn vandals.
