[edit] nuclearj
Final (2/6/3); ended 23:49, 04 May 2007 (UTC)
nuclearj (talk · contribs) - I am a nuclear engineer that wishes to update and remove vandalism in regards to radiation protection. This field is involved heavily in politics, which I have pay great attention to and will attempt to improve said articles. Nuclearj 21:54, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
I am being bold and closing this RfA early as with only seventeen edits this editor has far too little experience of working in the main spaces and applying the policies and guidelines required to be an effective admin at this time. (aeropagitica) 23:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. You may wish to answer the following optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I am a nuclear engineer specializing in health and medical effects of radiation. That will be my primary work. I also will attempt to revert vandalism wherever found
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: I have added a contribution on a particular use of radiation treatment for cancer. I will continue to add as more information become available.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I have been interacted in one case of vandalism, a political smear, without supporting evidence. I requested the user to cease activities. If I am qualified to resolve conflicts I will cite various supporting sources. Otherwise, I will bring the attention to other qualified users, perhaps by requesting mediation.
- 4. What is adminship for? -The Transhumanist 22:38, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- 5. What qualifications would you say a candidate for adminship needs to be qualified for the mop? -The Transhumanist 22:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- 6. How would you go about deciding whether or not a nominee for adminship can be trusted with the potentially dangerous sysop powers of adminship? -The Transhumanist 22:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion
You seem to be doing great work but are very new here :-) - we haven't had a chance to get to know you yet! You don't need to be an admin to help out with vandalism. Feel free to remove all vandalism you find and have a look at WP:UWT for a list of suitable warnings to give to vandals. Welcome to Wikipedia and hope you'll stay around a long time. WjBscribe 22:59, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Support
- Moral Support - your edits to-date look fine but I don't have enough here to determine how you'd hold up as an administrator. Get some more edits under your belt, maybe get involved in Wikipedia: space and come back in a while. - Alison ☺ 22:32, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Moral Support - per Allison and Ryan. Real96 22:47, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Oppose
Strong Oppose, suggest withdrawal - Editor has less than 50 contributions to Wikipedia. Real96 22:09, 3 May 2007 (UTC)- Can we please try and be a bit more constructive? Ryan Postlethwaite 22:24, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

- Okay, changed to moral support. Real96 22:47, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose - sorry, but you haven't got enough experience yet. Users need to be here actively editing for around 3 months and have around 3,000 edits before they run for adminship - this is to show the community can trust them. I think your doing a really good job however, so keep it up :-) Ryan Postlethwaite 22:11, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Oppose - withdraw or you might be snowed..--Cometstyles 22:21, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Oppose per all of the above. BoricuaeddieTalk • Contribs • Spread the love! 22:22, 3 May 2007 (UTC)- Can we please try and be a bit more constructive? Ryan Postlethwaite 22:24, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. Your desire to fight vandalism is commendable, and you do not need to be an admin to fight it. Adminship is generally reserved for experienced users who have gained the trust of the community. Be patient, enjoy yourself, enjoy Wikipedia, and the rest will take care of itself. The Transhumanist 22:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. This user is off to a great start and I'm impressed by his creation of Oxygen enhancement ratio. Nevertheless, my admin standards are fairly harsh: I generally want to see a minimum one-year of experience, 5,000 quality edits and broad knowledge of wikipedia policy. That means if this user can make an additional 4,883 edits, learn wikipedia policy and resubmit this application in 364 days, I might be inclined to support on the next round. --JJay 22:54, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose I am sorry, but I have to oppose you because you have not been here long enough to prove yourself. I suggest that you wait 5 months before you run again. During those 5 months fight vandalism, edit articles and vote in Xfd's. Peace:)--James, La gloria è a dio 23:07, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose You've JUST joined Wikipedia. Wait a few months, get acquainted, figure it all out, then see if you even want to be an admin. Try back in a few months. Jmlk17 23:41, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose You have only 20 edits on wikipedia. You need to have enough experience, especially in WP:NAMESPACE, for it to be obvious to editors that you know what you are doing in admin areas. This is, I am afraid, at present not the case.--Anthony.bradbury 23:47, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Neutral
- You don't need admin tools to do what you described, and more importantly, you're very short on experience. But keep up the good work. I hope you like it here on Wikipedia. Grandmasterka 22:43, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Adminship is no big deal as per Jimbo Wales but experienced is what is needed to be a good Admin..Sorry..Maybe in 6 months..--Cometstyles 23:02, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Neutral Seventeen edits doesn't form a sufficient basis to determine your efficacy as an admin. Try getting involved in admin-related activities such as new page/recent change patrols; vandal warning and reverting vandalism. Do this and come back again in a years' time.
