dbertman (talk · contribs) – I would like to reapply (previous application) for adminship as, over the past year, I believe myself to have made some useful contributions to the project as well as helped in several areas such as recent changes patrol and AfD nominations. Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.

A:I currently spend quite a lot of time looking at the recent changes and reviewing many of the recently changed or created articles for any vandalism that may have occured or 'innapropriate' articles that may have been created. With adminship I would further this work and also patrol the AfD candidates as this is another area that, with patrlling the recent changes, I am also well involved in.

2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

A:Of my articles, I am particularly please with Balby and Balby Carr Community Sports College. Whilst these are realtively short articles, I feel that by adding a semi concise article entry this will enable more people to be able to contribute to the articles more effecitvely and gradually the articles will build up. I am also pleased with them as Balby was the article I first started before registering a username on Wikipedia, and since then it has grown from being a simple sentence to something much more concise, yet still with more work to be done. I also feel it is important for people to be adding information regarding their own communities (of which Balby is mine) as often, this is far more accurate than 'outside' knowledge and helps to create a much larger 'variety' of information on wikipedia.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

A:I have not been in any serious conflicts, however, with patrolling the recent changes article I frequently come across people who have vandalised a page but constantly revert my edits back to what they have done. In this situation, rather than get into an editting 'war' I find it is best to 'watch' the article but leave it for several minutes or hours and then revert it back, this more often than not solves the problem as the edits do no get reversed as the vandals have since left. In the future, I hope to play more of a role in controlling these vandalised pages and in temporarily locking or restricting edits to known users to make sure fewer pages are defaced.
