[edit] The Wookieepedian
Final Voice your opinion! (2/4/2) Ended 22:30, 2006-08-05 (UTC)
The Wookieepedian (talk · contribs) I was previously nominated back in December but the nomination failed and I was asked to wait around six months and I would have a better chance. Well, it's been seven months and I would like to re-nominate myself. I've been using Wikipedia for over a year now and know my way around quite well. To view my answers to the admin candidate questions, see my previous nomination linked to above. The Wookieepedian 20:37, 8 August 2006 (UTC) Withdrawn
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: The Wookieepedian 21:39, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: I would be willing to work on the counter vandalism unit.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: I am particularly pleased with my contributions to the three Star Wars prequel articles, of which The Filmaker, Judgesurreal777, and myself worked together to bring up to featured status.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: In my history as a Wikipedian, yes I have. This was a concern brought up for my original nomination seven months ago. During November of last year, I had several disputes with a problem user, and I let things get out of control. In the last seven months, I have greatly improved my self-control and have avoided any such conflicts.

- I was looking through this and I found it a bit odd. I would be willing to work seems a little odd pre RfA... normally a solid background in vandalism fightingi is in order. Your response doesn't show a terribly strong background of what adminship is (after all, it's a few buttons, not a status symbol) and how you would use them. While I think your contribs look great I'm not totally sure you know what adminship is -- Tawker 22:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm fully aware of what adminship is, I simply stated what I would be willing to do if I were to be an admin. I'm not very good at fully expressing my thoughts/meaning, so I'm sorry for the confusion. The Wookieepedian 22:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- For me at least, part of the problem is you don't necessarily need admin tools for countervandalism (other than blocking users, but I didn't see any reports to WP:AIV). The vandal-fighters do have some good resources for doing so, but it's hard to support someone who has no history of counter-vandalism outside of the articles you normally work on.--Kchase T 22:20, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- Oppose The answers are poor, and The Wookieepedian doesn't seem to feel it's necessary to respond to requests to improve them. Also, I don't see any RC patrolling to go along with the counter-vandalism unit work in which he says he's going to participate. As a side comment (not a reason for opposing, just a comment), I would like to see you broaden your editing horizons. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 22:21, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose ! You don't need sysop powers if all you want to do is "work on the counter vandalism unit".Orane (talk • cont.) 22:24, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose You didn't seem to provide enough detail for the questions. Spending time on them may make me think you actually want this position seriously. Plus, looking through your contributions I see there are very few minor edits you make. Of course, some of your edits are minor but you don't mark them. There was one about changing a name from "Indiana Jones 4" to "Indiana Jone IV". I think I would mark that as a minor edit since not much is being changed. --Thorpe | talk 22:29, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

- Neutral. Work on your answers to the questions please.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 22:06, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- I really have nothing else to say. As I said above, I'm a man of few words. The Wookieepedian 22:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Neutral and leaning towards oppose. The answer to question one is insufficient... you do not need admin tools to be part of the anti-vandalism unit at all. I echo the request to elaborate on your answers, as an admin you will most likely be asked to answer for you actions from time to time, and this could be seen as quite telling by those reviewing this RFA.
