[edit] SeanMD80
Final (talk page) (2/2/0); Ended, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
SeanMD80 (talk · contribs) - I joined in March of 2006, and have made over 1,000 edits. I spend most of my time either adding meat to articles about the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, places I've been, or reverting vandalism when I see it, and patrolling the Recent Changes. I have started a good number of articles, and have made many reports to AIV. I have had enough experience in vandalism for me to be competent in policy and I am "bold". My ultimate allegiance is to the wiki philosophy, and when I found out that one of my friends was sockpuppeting and exercising CoI, I initiated a process to stop this. I think a good example of my attitude is this here. As you can see, I treat all matters like this very importantly, small or big, and research to find the best course of action.
Finally, I think I embody all of the aspects of the Scout Law: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. I will make good use of the admin tools. SeanMD80talk | contribs 18:41, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
I withdraw my nomination as per Majorly. I hope to see you again in a couple of months. Thank you for your input. SeanMD80talk | contribs 22:00, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I intend to fight vandalism more efficiently (but certainly not rashly), helping with blocking and unblocking users, and I also think I can be helpful arbitrating issues.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: Some of my best works are my contributions to the articles Nihoa and Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, the former being written almost solely with my info. I also pride myself on the number and the quality the of images I have contributed, many being ones I have taken myself. The articles on the NWHI would not be what they are without my contributions. A lot of time and research goes into my writing, and I always include sources.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I have had some conflicts, such as the above mentioned time when someone I knew started writing an article about their father, who may have merited an article or not. Either way, it was CoI, and I dealt with it according to policy. I always keep a cool head when dealing with conflicts, though I don't hesitate to insert some humor to it here and there.
Optional Question #4 from User:Tiptoety
- Q: What are your thoughts on Wikipedia:Administrators open to recall? Would you add yourself to it, why or why not? Tiptoety talk 20:28, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- A: I think that those who sign up for this are probably those that are least likely to be desysopped, because they are probably the most accountable and responsible admins in the first place. It is a very good proposition, I think, and I probably will sign up for it myself. I would make sure that if there were any grievances against me, I would try very hard to correct these issues before I would relinquish sysop, because that would be my last resort, if people still had problems with me.

[edit] Support
- I'm persuaded. However, I don't want to sound negative, but you're going to get opposed for "insufficient" edit count, lack of "wikispace" edits etc. Some advice here - come back in a couple of months or so with more admin related experience, and you'll pass fine. Good luck Majorly (talk) 21:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- As above. I think you need a little bit of help, but make sure to come back here in a few months with a little more. The very best of luck, Rt. 21:39, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Oppose
- Oppose 1140 edits is not a lot, but I would not oppose just for that reason. However, those edits do not show any significant involvement in admin-related tasks, and this is necessary in order that we can judge your ability within these parts of the project. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:02, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose - Lack of wikipedia mainspace edits, just does not show that this user has had experience discussing policies with the community, not sure if they would know how to come to a consensus. Fallow Majorly's adive above and you will do fine, (try contributing to WP:AFD, WP:CSD, WP:ANI, WP:TFD ect, see you back here in a few months. Tiptoety talk 21:44, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
