[edit] Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. You may wish to answer the following optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
A: I've spent a few hours plugging away with Vandal Fighter, and of course revert vandalism when I see it. I plan on making Category:Administrative backlog my home away from home, particularly the backlog of articles needing speedy deletion. Images and media for deletion are also likely to become a priority of mine. I'd be glad to help extensively with keeping the project clear of spam by sufficiently warning, and subsequently disciplining, trouble users. If given the tools, I would certainly spend an extra hour online browsing for users, and assisting where necessary. Though it looks to be well covered, I'd love to help the hard-working admins at WP:RFPP who review situations, since I can imagine how irritating it is to see constant vandalism to an article one enjoys reading. I'm here for the community, and will spend my administrative time anywhere it is useful. I'd love to think I won't significantly change my "wikistrategy" if given the tools, but I feel there is an obligation that comes with the capabilities.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: By far, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, the high school I currently attend. I started it over two years ago, as a very brief stub. It is now over 3,000 words and a good article. It was fun taking and creating images for the article, and I've received several compliments around school for its relative quality. I'm also proud to have initiated the article for my local airport. Aviation is a great hobby of mine, and I chip in on airline/airplane articles here and there.
I've also enjoyed working on a few of Wikipedia's lists, several of which are now featured. List of Super Bowl champions is probably the most notable, as I created and formatted it as such. When I have time, chronology of home stadiums for current National Football League teams will be my next attack for featured status. I often leave comments at WP:FLC; I think the process is just as important to the integrity of the project as WP:FAC.
In recent weeks, I've enjoyed writing several Signpost articles, the first of which described the rise of the Virginia Tech article to prominence. I hope to continue writing, as journalism was a career path I long desired taking.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: I've tried to steer clear of such conflict, probably because I haven't spent much time contributing to articles which could be considered controversial. I'm here to be help build an encyclopedia, and I think I've done so, for the most part.

  2. Support. Good user apart from the image concerns. I can forgive this user for not fully understanding image policy; to be honest, I myself don't really know much about image policy, and would have to look it up if I ever did any work with images (which I don't).   4. Strong oppose - the number of red links in the upload log and those five images which I tagged today give me the impression that the candidate does not understand image copyright issues. Not to mention Image:LCI cosmo.JPG, Image:LCI Art.jpg and most obviously Image:Teamflag1.jpg which are incorrectly tagged. (Hint: Here's why.) Sorry. MER-C 12:31, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

  6. Oppose sadly, per this diff. Not helpful, not constructive. No need to pile-on oppose on an RfA that's obviously failing, to do so is BITE-y and unnecessarily humiliating to the candidate. And if you must pile it on, do so in a constructive manner - tell them what they are doing wrong/what they can improve upon. That is enough for me to not support. – Rianaऋ 17:59, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Strong Oppose - I didn't release that it was was you who made the "let it snow let it snow let it snow" comment in that RfA last week - that really got to me, you were biting a newbie there and that's something we don't do.
