[edit] MilkMiruku
Final (2/12/1) ending 05:26, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
MilkMiruku (talk · contribs) – The main reason I would like to apply for adminship is because I have come across numerous situations where I would have liked to have been able to fix something on a protected page, moving a page where there is already a destination page, or helping with a speedy deletion of obvious nonsense, etc. Also, while I don't intend to become a full time worker on backlogged issues, I would be interested in helping out in a few areas on occasion for a bit of a change and to get some experience in how other admins deal with many of the problems that arise on Wikipedia.
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
I accept.I withdraw from my self-nomination. I think it's obvious I need to get more involved with the process side of things and general duties of Wikipedia of things before I think of requesting for adminship again. --MilkMiruku
Support
- Support - looks like a good user, would like a slight expansion on the nomination statement / why you want to be an admin though -- Tawker 05:34, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Support A good user who is unlikely to abuse admin tools. --Siva1979Talk to me 13:37, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Oppose
- Oppose per NSLE, user seems to have enough time editing but I don't really see any evidence of the policy knowledge I'd expect of an admin candidate. (ESkog)(Talk) 05:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose. Although you are a great contributor to articles, you have less than 100 wikipedia namespace edits, indicating a lack of experience in process. DarthVader 07:09, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose Active editor in articles, but needs more experience in process. - Mailer Diablo 07:29, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
OpposeStrong Oppose I know editcountitis can be fatal, but the number of project edits (< 100) and number of user talk edits (~ 50) are not high enough for me. joturner 07:53, 23 April 2006 (UTC)- Also, mal-formed nomination (no rationale originally, addition of nomination at the bottom, and incorrect end time) pushed this to "strong" oppose. joturner 07:59, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Strong oppose per Joturner. Computerjoe's talk 09:43, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose Per lack of experiance in process of Wikipedia. Moe ε 14:27, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose Appears to contradict themselves in the reasons for obtaining admin and answers to questions. Sorry.--Andeee 15:28, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Just for clarification, can I ask how? --MilkMiruku 15:54, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose Edits are low, but that's not it; a self-nomination should give, if not a compelling reason for wanting to be an admin, at the very least a coherent one. Also, as per Andy, the impression given in the nom and the impression given by the answers to the questions seem contradictory. --Deville (Talk) 16:03, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose per joturner. More experience is required before user can be fully trusted with the mop. Xoloz 16:11, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose per joturner. Kimchi.sg | talk 16:14, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose, Malformed RFA. Naconkantari e|t||c|m 17:07, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not very active, especially in project space, in addition to bad RfA formatting. --

Neutral
- Neutral Looks like a good editor but doesn't have quite enough experience dealing with vandalism (which he says he is interested in helping out with). I'd particularly like to see more assistance at WP:AIV and slightly more edits outside article and talk space. JoshuaZ 16:09, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: Things I could see myself helping out with include closing AfDs, vandalism, page moves and copyvio issues.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: I'm probably most happy about both my recent work on WikiProject Music genres and the music genre navigational templates I've created or helped improve, mainly because they help users navigate to and discover related genres, and help other editors contribute to articles they know about but hadn't thought of checking on Wikipedia or might not have been able to find.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: One problem I had a while back was on drum and bass where there was a conflict between two groups of editors over the genres relation to jungle music and whether the two pages should be merged or not. In the end I a compromise was reached, something that I was involved in, and the jungle article was shifted to oldschool jungle. I'll admit that I did get a little hot under the collar over that but I decided to take a self-imposed break from the article half-way through so I could come back with a fresh perspective in order to get the issue resolved. --MilkMiruku 05:24, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Question from JoshuaZ
- 1 You mention helping fight vandalism as one thing you would like to help out as an admin, yet I see little record of vandal fighting behavior, i.e. action on WP:AIV and user talk page warnings. Could you explain what you have done that gives you experience with vandals and why you are qualified to deal with them?
-
- While it's true that dealing with vandals isn't something I haven't been involved with that much, I have given a talk page warnings before and, if given the ability to do quick reverts on articles, I would be able to deal with anything that comes up on watchlist in a much more efficient manner and thus be able to get more work done. --MilkMiruku 06:16, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
