[edit] Mb1000

final (0/6/1) ending 01:02 07 July 2005 (UTC)

I hereby nominate myself to become a Wikipedia administrator. While fairly new to Wikipedia, (I've been a registered user since Feb. 1st, 2005) I've really tried to contribute as much as I can. When starting articles from scratch I try to make them as high-quality as possible. I have spoken time-and-again against vandalism and for neutral articles, and I have tried to edit out as much biased material as I could find. I must admit, though, that I have been a little over-zealous with regards to adding images, and so I've run into some problems with a couple of the images I've added, but I hope that this won't be held against me. I really want to be an administrator so I can contribute even more to Wikipedia, so please support my nomination. --Mb1000 2 July 2005 01:02 (UTC)

I accept my own nomination. --Mb1000 2 July 2005 01:02 (UTC)

Support

Oppose

  1. Oppose. User seems good-natured but only has around 650 edits. Also, the "articles i'm proud of" barely extended past being stubs. Hedley 2 July 2005 11:18 (UTC)
  2. Oppose (for now). So far has insufficient edits to determine suitability. ~~~~ 2 July 2005 16:38 (UTC)
  3. Oppose. Too early. If you don't have at least 1,000 edits, you don't have much of a chance. --Woohookitty 2 July 2005 20:42 (UTC)
  4. Oppose. Only five months contributing. Wait another four months and I might support you. Denelson83 4 July 2005 04:40 (UTC)
  5. Oppose. Not yet. -- JamesTeterenko 5 July 2005 02:37 (UTC)
  6. Oppose. You're a bit green still, but you look like you've got good intentions. Pretty much everything that needs to be said has already been said. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk July 6, 2005 13:42 (UTC)

Neutral

  1. Good intentions, but not enough time yet. Try to create a few more articles, get involved in a WP-space activity (eg. VfD, RC patrol, stub-sorting) and come back with about 2000 edits. As long as you don't have any problems by then, you should become an admin. Harro5 July 3, 2005 06:36 (UTC)

Comments

  • For those who are interested, Mb1000 has about 650 edits on Kate's count. I don't really care about that, but will hold back my judgement until Mb1000 provides a bit more detail for the first question. You're a new user, and I'd like to know where you see yourself working if you become an admin. Also, have you been active in any WP-space areas previously? Your edit breakdown would suggest no (only 20 WP-space edits). Harro5 July 2, 2005 08:35 (UTC)
  • First of all, I'd like to thank Hedley for calling me "good-natured". Secondly, I understand the concerns of the users that posted here. In response to Harro5's question, "I'd like to know where you see yourself working if you become an admin?": If I become an administrator I will work hard to promptly remove vandalism, delete versions of images that have been vandalized, and I hope to possibly work a bit on the homepage. I promise that I will not let Wikipedia (and it's users) down. --Mb1000 3 July 2005 00:03 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)

A. I am very passionate about combating vandalism and biased material, so I plan to continue to help in that regard.

2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

A. I am particularly proud of the articles American Gold Eagle, American Silver Eagle, & American Platinum Eagle, all of which I started. I'm also proud of the fact that I have twice rehauled the article George W. Bush, making it (temporarally) into, I think, a neutral article. I also very proud of the historic TIME Magazine covers I have added, such as Image:Bigthreetime.jpg and Image:Winstonchurchilltimemagazine.jpg.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

A. I have not been in any major conflicts thus far. If it ever happens I will strive to remain as cordial as possible, and act like a gentleman.

4. In your self-nomination, you state that you "have spoken time-and-again against vandalism and for neutral articles" and that you "have tried to edit out as much biased material as I could find." Can you provide some examples?
