[edit] Juansidious
Final (0/6/0); Ended 02:45, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm being bold and closing this request early per WP:SNOW. More on the candidate's talk page.--Chaser - T 07:44, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Juansidious (talk · contribs) - I was introduced to Wikipedia nearly two years ago, and not only do I rely on it for answering most of my basic queries, it is often a source of great entertainment and information. Most of my edits are centered around bettering the flow of articles, as well as fixing incorrect grammar, spelling, and similar problems. Juansidious 02:45, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. You may wish to answer the following optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I intend to stop vandals. One of the largest problems facing Wikipedia today is vandalism. Whether it be subtle or conspicuous, I intend to search out vandalism, revert it, and hold those responsible accountable. This could involve banning, when necessary.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: As paradoxical as it may sounds, I believe that my best contributions to Wikipedia are my small ones. I derive a certain satisfaction from correcting a spelling error, or integrating a trivia section into a main article. I guess I'm a stereotypical gnome. I believe that it is important to fix these issues in order to uphold the professionalism of Wikipedia as a whole.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I have only had two conflicts over editing. Both conflicts stemmed from my desire to create a new article. In each case, another user put up my article for speedy deletion. Instead of lashing out at the user, and recreating the page, I carefully read their reasoning behind the proposal. This enabled me, in both cases, to realize that neither of the articles I created were notable. Calm, clearheaded consideration of others' arguments is how I deal with disputes.
[edit] Optional question from Durova
- 4. What would you do as an administrator about ideological or profit motive attempts to manipulate Wikipedia? Bear in mind this statement from Brad Patrick as well as this news story, this conference summary, this press release, and these blogs. DurovaCharge! 04:41, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Support
Oppose
- Oppose - I'm sorry, but your contributions show almost no vandal-fighting experience, which you can do without admin tools before stepping up to being able to block users yourself. Please get more experience in admin-related areas (and more experience in general, since you have fewer than 500 contributions spread out over about seven months) and I'd be happy to support. You have a good attitude. :-) Grandmasterka 03:15, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Grandmasterka. Also, you only have 28% edit summary usage for major edits and only 4% for minor edits. Captain panda 03:45, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Grandmasterka, but try again in a few months when you have more experience. Tim Q. Wells 04:26, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose You have less than 200 edits, don't use edit summaries, and haven't been around more than a few months, many with only a few edits. You need to amp up your editing, join some projects, use edit summaries, get an admin coach later on, and try again later on sometime. Jmlk17 04:39, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose, wannabe_kate took less than three seconds load. By golly. --Phoenix 04:51, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose - Lack of experience. Stick around longer and try again some other time--$UIT 05:24, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
