Oppose

  1. Oppose. While it is good Jacoplane has participated in several WikiProjects, he doesn't seem to be familiar (or at least active) in any of the major processes in WikiSpace. Judging by the answers to his questions, he has interest in becoming a Mediator, which is laudable but doesn't require adminship. Radiant_>|< 21:26, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
I would like to point out that one of your points above is not based on an accurate reading of user's answers. To question 1 the user answered: I would continue being a recent changes patroller, as I have already been doing. Also, I would like to become more involved with AfD. Furthermore, I'd like to become more involved with mediating conflicts, probably by joining the mediation cabal. Becoming a mediator is something Jacoplane looks forward to, but was not neither his first nor his second of the reasons for being an admin. I also looked at Jacoplane's answer to the third question, and neither there do I see that he is burning with desire to become a mediator first and foremost. Now, this is not to say that your vote is not right, I am just picking at a specific point. :) Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 00:28, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
    • Neither RC patrol nor AFD involvement require adminship, especially since the advent of the Java rollback (although admittedly RC'ing is easier with a delete button). Radiant_>|< 01:23, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
      • He can hardly do things that do require adminship can he? AFD is one of the major admin areas of work unless I am mistaken, due to the delete button. Raven4x4x 02:43, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
        • One can actually do quite a bit on AfD without being an admin, closing speedy deletes and keeps. howcheng [ tcwe ] 07:39, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
  2. Oppose very short answers to the questions - shows a lack of effort. freestylefrappe 00:20, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
While you are free to oppose based on the fact that you find my answers unsatisfactory, I don't think you can accuse me of not putting effort into Wikipedia. I think looking at my contributions shows that. Jacoplane 05:55, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
You're contributions are a reflection of how good you are as a user, not an administrator. freestylefrappe 20:12, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
I disagree, since I arrived here Jacoplane was an excelent friendly mediator with disputes. He is already a good Administrator, but now this will be officialized. --GroundZero 02:22, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Neutral

  1. Neutral. A bit more familiarity with wikispace would be appreciated, will likely support next time. ナイトスタリオン 09:33, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I would continue being a recent changes patroller, as I have already been doing. Also, I would like to become more involved with AfD. Furthermore, I'd like to become more involved with mediating conflicts, probably by joining the mediation cabal.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. There's not really any particular contribution that springs to mind. Some recent article's I've created include Family Entertainment Protection Act and Template:Information appliance. I've also been maintaining $100 laptop. I am an active member of the Wikiproject Computer and video games. I also started and maintain Portal:Computer and video games. Mainly, I tend to work on a large number of articles. I personally feel that most of my contributions have been worthwhile.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I haven't been in any edit conflicts as far as I can recall, with the exception of vandal fighting of course. I always try to follow the policies and guidelines regarding user conduct and civility, so I foresee no problems in the future. As I mentioned above, I'd like to get involved more in mediating conflicts.
