[edit] Hashar
final (31/2/0) ending 16:21 20 July 2005 (UTC)
I am a developer for MediaWiki and do not really follow en.wikipedia.
I am not going to block anyone cause there is enough sysops around to handle that, not going to delete stuff either unless it's a massive vandalism (which does not happen so often anyway).
My request for adminiship is to be able to fix stuff in the MediaWiki messages and eventually easily revert my bot modifications when if I ever make a mistake.
Finally, I would be able to grant myself sysop rights by editing the database, but I believe it's not the way to do it.

- Speedy Support for the reasons given. Plus, he's French and likes the kitties. SchmuckyTheCat 19:35, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
- Hashar is going about this the right way. The request is unusual compared to what we are used to dealing with, but the reasoning behind the request is sensible. And clearly Hashar is trustworthy, so it is easy to support this request. --Michael Snow 18:10, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
- Been here for over two years, I see? Well, that translates to a definite support. Denelson83 19:18, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

- I am very grateful for anyone with the skills and dedication to be able to contribute to the development of the technical side of Wikipedia. If this makes life easier for Hashar in that regard, by all means support. Jwrosenzweig 07:04, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
- Support. Though I've never encountered Hashar here, I've confirmed that this user is a developer. He could just as easily given himself the sysop access, but didn't. I respect that a great deal. --Deathphoenix 13:32, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
- Support, of course. If he can be trusted with developer access I think he can be trusted with the powers of a mere sysop. A good, trustworthy fellow who shouldn't have to go find someone else to fix the MediaWiki: namespace. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 14:53, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
- Support - I thought developers had admin access by default, but I guess that's not the case. Shimgray 19:52, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

- Support, for three reasons. He's a proven good sysop. Admin abilities are useful for a developer. And Nut and Bolt, my two cats, told me to. Grutness...wha? 02:08, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

- In the sense that he could just have been given adminship without a vote? At least he has the decency to ask. --JuntungWu 04:04, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
- I did not mean that, Mr. Wu, and I apologise that it had been interpreted in that manner. I meant that administrators should attempt to "patrol" for 'vandalism,' for instance. --Anglius 04:51, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
- Why? I we know that he wont abuse it, why not give him adminship. That is the essence of the "No big deal" thing. As long as we know a user wont abuse his privliges, why not give him adminship? gkhan 12:22, July 16, 2005 (UTC)
- I suppose that you are correct, sir, but I have already 'voted'(not to be impolite). --Anglius 20:41, 17 July 2005 (UTC)
- I thank you, sir. --Anglius 18:01, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

Comments
- How about some links to the proper websites that demonstrates each point you have made above (shell access, cvs access, etc). I would like to be able to verify for myself the assertions made, before I vote. Triddle 17:09, July 13, 2005 (UTC)

- Good point. Thanks for the link Michael Snow. Hashar 02:18, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
- According to Kate's Tool, Hashar has approximately 2200 edits. See here for the full report. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 19:37, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. would fix mediawiki: namespace, help with massive vandalism, fix stranges bugs nobody can fix (apart other developers :p).
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. Hashar's cat which unfortunatly got in VfD :-/
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. I got regular conflicts with the whole wikipedia community when I commit stuff in MediaWiki that broke everything. Recent example is when all thumbnails had a 5px width size.
