[edit] Gyrofrog
Final (18/0/2) ended 20:12 3 October 2005 (UTC) (UTC)
Gyrofrog (talk · contribs) – Gyrofrog began editing in April 2004 and has really increased his level of contribution in recent months, logging over 3000 edits altogether. He is the only editor who has established a presence within the Ethiopia-related articles, both expanding content and reverting the politically inspired vandalism that strikes them. He is also active in music-related articles, as well as the Wikipedia namespace. Gyrofrog is friendly, knowledgeable, and committed to making Wikipedia better and I have no doubt that he would be a fine admin. BanyanTree 20:12, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

- Support - sure. I think no-one is voting because the edit counter is down, LOL. Ryan Norton T | @ | C 20:37, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
- Support the edit counter is down, but I don't really care about that anyway. Looks like a solid contributor with good community interaction, no reason for him not to be an admin. -Greg Asche (talk) 20:53, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
- Strong support trustworthy and knowledgeable. freestylefrappe 21:08, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
- Strong support, good editor. If anyone does care, I count 3216 well distributed edits as of this moment. -- BD2412 talk 21:16, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

- Support, no personal interaction with Gyrofrog, but a review of edit contribs looks good. He just barely passes my edit count level though. ALKIVAR™ 07:10, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- Support. No reason not to support. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 10:50, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
- Support contribs seem solid and I trust some of the previous voters. Haven't come across him myself admittedly. Dlyons493 Talk 17:20, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

- Neutral, been here for over a year, but only has over 3000 edits, I just don't thinks its enough to warrant support. But I won't oppose. Private Butcher 19:19, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
- Maybe so, but 1,441 of the edits...45%...are in the last 90 days. The average edits per day over those 90 days is 16 per day. That shows a strong, steady level of participation over the last three months. --Durin 20:56, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
Comments
- Gyrofrog is quite right in noting llywrch's contributions to Ethiopia articles in his comment below. It may be a function of the subset of Ethiopia-related articles on my watchlist that Gyrofrog's name consistently appears. - BanyanTree 11:43, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. I expect I would be using the "rollback" tool quite a bit (reverting vandalism, test edits, typos), as I've already been doing this the "manual" way. To be honest, as far as this kind of cleanup goes, I only check "Recent changes" sporadically. Much more often, I'll click on "Random article" as there seems to be quite a bit that slips through the cracks (albeit less vandalism than things that generally need cleanup). I foresee helping out with article and/or image deletions.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. By creating and/or editing Ethiopia-related articles I hope I've raised Ethiopia's profile a little bit within Wikipedia. (I appreciate BanyanTree's confidence here, but truthfully he and llywrch are at least as much of a presence as I am in those articles). Same goes for the various other subjects on which I've worked: simply something that I cared about enough that I thought it deserved to have a little more information available.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. The "Anuzutica" mini-fracas comes to mind. Other than that I guess I've either kept my cool, or maybe haven't been around here as long as I think, as I haven't found myself in what I'd call a real conflict. (Most likely of all, there was simply someone else around to help me out.)
