[edit] Giangian15
(0/2/2); Scheduled to end 23:33, 7 May 2008 (UTC) - Withdrawn. Acalamari 23:37, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Giangian15 (talk · contribs) - Hi all there, I’m a native Maltese wikipedian. The major reason that prompted me to apply for administratorship is the fact that articles related to Malta are not to a certain level of standard. The major problem pertaining Maltese articles is the deficiency of sources. Online external sources relating to Malta are very vague and thus most articles end up either speedily deleted or as stubs. Most foreign administrators start merging maltese articles and deleting important sections that are in themselves very important. I’m aware of the WikiProject Malta and in my opinion they certainly got a tough task and i congratulate and thank them for their hard work however the relatistic side of it is that the only extensive sources relating to Malta are only found in the books at the National library in Floriana and not on the internet. I’ve got access to that library and i must say that there are a lot of detail that is missing to this encyclopedia. Of course i can’t enter all the detail myself however i can structure and guide Maltese and non-Maltese wikipedian into what they should focus rather than waste time on non-notable articles. i will give my utmost to make wikipedia malta articles more readable and updated as those of all other countries. [edit] Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: Anything that is related to Malta. It is in my interest to improve the articles relating to Malta and make them more readable and linkable. My first priorities will be to clean up most notable articles such as Malta, Maltese Language and start restructuring and linking more important articles. Having the article of Prime Minister of Malta listed as a stub shows just the tip of the iceberg. It is futile that we work together because yes, together everything is possible.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: My best contributions so far have been in Politics of Malta. There are a lot of important articles and templates that I created these include Chief Justice of Malta, Government of Malta, Total renovation of Smart City, Malta, New Template for Politics of Malta with slide menu and prospective articles , Lots of legislative elections results back to 1947 and many more.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: To be honest I only faced minor conflicts since Malta’s articles are still in the writing stage rather than reviewing stage. The conflicts that really exist are the decision whether to merge articles like “Malta Bus” and “Transport in Malta.” Or whether we should include USA in the “spoken in:” list of the Maltese Language. I believe that this all boils down to discussion. Conflicts should first be discussed maturely in a civil way and as much as possible taking the least time possible since there is a lot of work to be done. If agreement is not reached it all boils down to consensus.

[edit] Oppose
- Oppose You have low edits to the mainspace, and lack of edit summary usage. I would recommend coming back in a a few months after more experience in WP:AIV, WP:RFPP, and other admin areas. I would also recommend keeping a better edit summary usage. Good luck next time! « Milk's Favorite Cookie ( talk / contribs) 23:05, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose as Milk's Favorite Cookie noted, you do not have nearly enough edits for use to judge that you understand Wikipedia's policies and know how to apply them in a wide variety of situations. You also don't understand fair use well enough, as shown by your tagging of Image:PrimeMinisterMalta.jpg. I'm afraid until you can demonstrate a better understanding of how Wikipedia works, you are unlikely to be supported as an administrator. Good luck though, Gwernol 23:23, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Neutral
- Neutral to avoid pile on. I'd suggest you withdraw this at the moment as it's not going to pass yet; have a read of some successful RFAs to see the kind of thing we're looking for here, and come back in a couple of months when you can demonstrate it. (I wholeheartedly agree we do need more Maltese editors at all levels, too.) — iridescent 23:13, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Neutral. I really really like what you've said in the answers to your questions. The only problem is that you've not been editing (at least on this account) long enough for us to be sure that you will make a good administrator. My suggestion right now is for you to keep up the good work, make sure you use an edit summary for every edit, and to get experience in the many different aspects of Wikipedia.
