[edit] FCYTravis

final (25/1/0) ending 2:40 1 July 2005 UTC) FCYTravis is a longtime wikipedia user who has contributed a lot to Wikipedia including rewrites of Sports car racing and Grand-Am, he has also always been ready and willing to help other users and is a valuable contributor to the Recent changes patrol. In my opinion would make good use of the increased responsibilities and tools of an administrator. Jtkiefer 02:40, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

  4. Support. A very good contributor. Giving FCYTravis the "rollback" button will benefit the RC patrol. Sjakkalle (Check!) 07:45, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  5. Just. Relatively inexperienced (1278 edits), but looking at contributions, obviously would benefit from admin capabilities. Bluemoose 09:14, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  7. Support. A good contributor, he has shown himself to be trustworthy and having a firm grasp of policy. Rje 10:45, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)
  8. Support. I would rather he have more time and edits, but the quality of his participation merits my support. Some of his reverts could use a bit more explanation in the edit summaries, but this is very minor. --Unfocused 15:01, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  9. Support Inexperience is the only real drawback I can see, and I only view that as a block to self-noms. --Scimitar 15:05, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Oppose

  1. Oppose, reluctantly. Have not encountered this user, but 1300 edits seems too few. I was criticized on this basis in my first candidacy and I had more edits than this. He has worked on a nice variety of topics, however. Come back a little later. PedanticallySpeaking June 29, 2005 17:58 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I have been very active in RC Patrol lately, ever since I stumbled across CryptoDerk's Vandal Fighter. Of course, reverting vandalism is a neverending task - and my work would be made much easier with a rollback button. I also anticipate helping to close VFDs and clean up blatant speedy-delete candidates - of which there are far too many.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. As mentioned in the nomination, I'm engaged in a cleanup and expansion of Grand-Am, an article on a major sports car racing sanctioning body. Lately, however, my major contribution has been in combating vandalism and vanity - and I'm proud to be helping defend the integrity of the Wikipedia as a source for encyclopedic information. RC Patrol isn't just about deletion, though - I strive to give stub articles I run across the proper classifications and cleanup help if needed.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I have, honestly, been involved in a couple - one relating to an article name and the other relating to a highly-charged article featured on VfD that I began editing. After brief revertfests, I tried in both cases to find compromise resolutions that would lead to wikilove rather than wikifights, and in at least one case, helped bring a resolution of the conflict - see Talk:California State Highway 17 for the gory details.
