ESkog (talk · contribs) – Self-nomination. I've been here since May and recently ramped up my contributions. I do some RC patrol, contribute to AFD, and keep an eye on topics (mainly mathematical and sports-related, I'm finishing up university to be a secondary math teacher) on RfC and Wikipedia:Third opinion. ESkog | Talk 14:47, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Withdrawn: Based on early returns, I need to work some more to get here. I'll try again in a few months, perhaps. ESkog | Talk 23:07, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
Self-nomination.
Support
Oppose
- Oppose Sorry. I'm not normally into editcountitis, but -- for folks who want admin powers to close AfD's -- I expect over 1000 edits, because they should know AfD very well. "Better-safe-than-sorry" vote here, and I'll be happy to support with a little more experience. Xoloz 18:01, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose until the editor has more experience. <1000 edits is too few.Gateman1997 20:19, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose too few edits. Quentin Pierce 21:07, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose per above --Rogerd 22:37, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Neutral
- Sorry, can't really decide on this one. Generally good contributions, but not even a thousand, so... Mh. I might yet reconsider, but for now, neutral. ナイトスタリオン ✉ 19:46, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

- As Kate's tool is down, I counted his edits using XL. Candidate's first edit was on 1 May 2005 and on 16:16, 2 December 2005 (UTC) he had exactly 1,000 edits. Izehar 16:33, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

- I count 775. Are there deleted edits you are including? --Durin 17:02, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- You're right - now I found 776. I must have started at the bottom last time or clicked [Latest] or something like that and found two sets of 500. I'll check again. Izehar 17:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Update: on 17:17, 2 December 2005 (UTC) ESkog had 781 edits. I'm positive now; I have no idea how I came up with the 1,000 figure earlier. Izehar 17:23, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A. My main goal would be to clean up vandalism using the Rollback tool, but I also plan to get involved in closing discussions on Foo for Deletion pages, and learning more about image sourcing to help clean up some of the backlog there.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. In the article namespace, I have been the primary contributor to articles related to Athletics at the University of Kansas such as Memorial Stadium, Lawrence and Mark Mangino. I have also facilitated a discussion over the external links at Quixtar which has created a consensus we can fall back on when other users (often vandals from Alticor) add or remove links. More recently, I have taken an interest in the cases surrounding User:Maoririder and have tried to constructively help him be a positive contributor to the Wikipedia community.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. I haven't really been involved in a major edit conflict, but I must admit to having bitten the School Deletionist Bug early on in my involvement here. I have dealt with that frustration by accepting that consensus was against me, and instead seeking ways to make these articles more encyclopedic and verifiable to the extent possible.
