[edit] Duk
final (22/0/0) ending 14:40 24 December 2004 (UTC)
Duk has been here for almost 7 months and has 2290 edits. They run the gamut from image creation to creating and bringing an article to featured article status to fighting vandalism to participating in VfD to good old grunt work. He gets involved in talk pages and encourages discussion. When he's wrong, he's not afraid to admit it. Even though he and I have been on opposing sides of debates before, I can say without reservation that I strongly feel he would benefit from the tools of adminship and use them appropriately. - Support. I quite liked Soda can stove and it got to the front page. Seems like a good editor, not too controversial. Should be OK (fingers crossed!) - Ta bu shi da yu 08:51, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. At first, the rollback button for vandalism, assist IFD (alongside the image tagging project), and avail myself to anyone needing sysop assistance. Later, help deal with vandals.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. Gas turbine, Soda can stove, because they were a good example of a community effort. Grand coulee, Columbia Basin Project, Similitude (model) (still working on), because I learned a lot while doing it. Some of the Water turbine pages, because they were non-existent or redirects when I started. User:Duk/My_Images because they add a lot of value to Wikipedia and I learned several new software packages for this purpose.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and will deal with it in the future?
- A. Very rarely. I think I've had edit disputes only a couple of times. I have been lucky, because they have been with people who have the best intentions, same as me. When an argument flairs, I find that a step back, a little bit of humility, and a clearly stated argument has always been reciprocated.
-
- As far as others causing me stress, not much. People sometimes do things I don't agree with, I'm sure I do things that other people disagree with. So I try to have patience (and I've sensed other people's patience with me). In the future, I see myself becoming more patient and more engaging in edit discussions.
