Anthony5429 (talk · contribs) - I have been editing WP since February 21, 2005. The first few months, I was relatively inactive but I picked up speed as I became comfortable with the system and environment. With just over 3000 edits on the English WP, I now consider myself a very active editor. I have e-mail enabled and have never been blocked. As you will note from my user page, I am the creator of {{Reflist}}, which is now the most widely used template for listing specific references on articles. On my user page, I list all the templates, articles, and images I have started, created, and uploaded. I would greatly appreciate admin status. I am not asking just so I can flaunt the title but for actual practical reasons which I discuss in the answers to the questions below. You will note this is my second time to apply. Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Administrative backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
A: As a long-standing member of the CVU, I anticipate helping to make reversions to vandal edits. I already patrol RC frequently. With the ability to use the quick rollback tool, reversion will be much easier and I will be far more efficient as a result. I also anticipate helping ban vandal users as per WP:AIV. In addition, I have been very interested in the AfD process. I often visit the list of articles for deletion and vote accordingly. With admin status, I will be able to help by using the power to delete articles according to the AfD process.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A: As previously stated, my biggest contribution has been my creation and promotion of {{Reflist}}. Reflist has several advantages over the similar reference listing templates. I discuss the advantages on the template's /doc and talk page. I am also the creator and promoter of several other templates including the other reference-related templates: {{Refbegin}}, {{Refend}}, and {{Refimprove}}. I pride myself mostly in these templates. However, I also try to be an active article and image contributor. On my user page, I have listed the articles which I have personally begun. I will be honest, many of these articles are still minimal as I often concern myself with templates instead. However, these articles and images help fill gaps in Wikipedia's content.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: I have been in editing conflicts in the past but I have always learned from my mistakes. On one occasion, not long after creating my account, I made an article on a band which was not very well-known. I did my part arguing the worthiness of the article. However, in time, the article was deleted but I gained from the discussion the understanding of exclusionist principles on Wikipedia which are of course important in keeping Wikipedia a professional encyclopedia. I always try to make communication a high priority. I think this is very important in resolving conflicts and building the community. As a minor addendum, the band I was creating the article for recently toured with Cyndi Lauper and I was able to replace the article, citing the tour as sufficient grounds for notability.
At another time, more recently, I was scolded for uploading PNG forms of images which were already on Wikipedia as JPGs. The idea was that if edits needed to be made to the images, quality would not be lost during recompression. However, several Wikipedians disagreed with the action, noting that PNG's are larger than JPGs. My new images were removed from Wikipedia but rather than fight back and reupload the images, I stepped back to analyze the action, realised my fault, apologised, and moved on.

  2. Oppose - sorry, you don't have sufficient project space contributions. For example, you haven't edited the admin notice boards, any of the dispute resolution pages, or posted at WP:AIV. Also you appear confused regarding the subtle distinction between bans and blocks. Excellent work on the {{reflist}} though. If this doesn't work out, suggest you try again in 2-3 months.   3. Oppose sorry but you haven't demonstrated sufficient understanding of the policies and procedures around here, and you could use WP:VPRF if you wanted really easy rollback, you don't need to be an admin for that. The Rambling Man 21:09, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
