[edit] AlanH
Final (1/3/1); Scheduled to end 15:28, 19 January 2008 (UTC) Candidate withdrew. Rudget. 16:44, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
AlanH (talk · contribs) - I wouldn't mind being an admin, and would do my best at it; however, I would like, in particular, access to the "revert" tool for vandalism. I just reverted vandalism and will do so much more often if I had access to the tool. (I know I should apply on the specific page, but faild to find it after twenty minutes of looking. I apologize.) Thank you. AlanH (talk) 03:47, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
- (I made the request, so I accept.)
[edit] Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: Mostly reversion of vandalism and edit/cleanup/{{fact}}-tagging/adding sources!
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: No big contributions, but I take pride in correcting sentence fragments and questioning unsourced facts.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Once I linked to my own site to back up a fact, which User:AlistairMcMillan kindly informed me was innappropriate! I understood the reasoning behind this, of course, and didn't/won't do it again.
-
- More generally, when confronted with an argument, I always try to understand the other's POV and explain my own, if appropriate. Some of my friends actually use me as a mediator for disputes. On Wikipedia, I will always "bow" to the wishes of more experienced admins (i.e. all of them).

[edit] Discussion
- OK, I am going to withdraw my request for now and consider applying to rollback. Please mark this request as withdrawn, and thanks for the moral support/regreful opposes :)
[edit] Support
- Moral Support — give it more time; continue building the encyclopedia and contributing to community discussions and the like, and I'm sure you'll get the experience required to be an admin. But please do keep your good work! BTW, the "rollback" or "revert" toll (which, apparently, has been quite controversial lately) can be granted without the need to grant admin rights via WP:ROLL. [edit] Oppose
- Regretful oppose I can see you have good intentions here, but you need a little more experience and you need to use more edit summaries. Sorry, and good luck! Jonathan § 15:30, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- Regretful Oppose - it's clear that you want to help out here at Wikipedia but I'm afraid I'm going to have to oppose. According to your edit count (As of this moment) you've made 20 edits this month. I think maybe you should withdraw and get more experience in the different areas of Wikipedia. You could start by reading WP:ADMIN - to get a feel for what admins do. Basically it boils down to experience and committed use of Wikipedia. I'd be happy to help you and point you in the right direction, I will post this on your talk page aswell. ScarianCall me Pat 15:33, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose - I applaud your vandal fighting! It is most likely too early for the community to approve your admin request, however, you almost have enough edits to apply for VandalProof access (I think it's 250 mainspace edits if I remember correctly). This will give you the "revert" tool you want and will most certainly assist you in your vandal fighting activities. κaτaʟavenoTC 16:38, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
