[edit] Ahadland1234
Final (0/3/0); Ended 00:13, 20 March 2007 (UTC) (UTC)
Ahadland1234 (talk · contribs) - Hey everybody, my name is Andrew Hadland, and I am 16 years old. Throughout the years Wikipedia has been in operation I have contributed extensively to the project. I help with cleanup, and finding references for articles pertaining to history, and other fields. I am prepared to do what needs doing to ensure that Wikipedia runs smoothly. This would range from anything from routine maintenance, to reverting vandalism, and for adding appropriate information to articles. I help out routinely in either supporting or objecting featured articles. I also check the featured articles for errors, and check others to make sure that they maintain the same consistent standard. I am also quite familiar with Wikipedia's policy's and always keep a cool head and help to mediate difficult disputes. These are the reasons why I would like to become a Wikipedia administrator. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. Ahadland 22:48, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
I accept that I would like to be a candidate for adminship.
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Administrative backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: In short, I would do whatever the project requires. This would range from general cleanup of articles, increasing the lengths of stubs. I will also continue to help mediate heated disputes on talk pages, and consistently watch the recent changes page so as to revert vandalism as quickly as possible. I will help in whichever processes that I can, I will help to create some of the requested articles, and find references for articles that lack them or rely on a single source. I will also expand and help out with featured article and featured pictures candidates. I will also attempt to make sure that people adhere to wikipedias policy's. I have also contributed to Wikipedia's orphan articles, providing many links and footnotes to them.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: I am particularly pleased with my extensive contributions to the Holocaust article. This is because I have helped cite appropriate sources, introduced images, and helped to de-size it. At present I am looking at its former peer review to see why it failed for featured article status; I will then attempt to rectify these problems. I am also petitioning to have a specific infobox placed on the page. I am also proud of my contributions to articles relating to Jewish and British history. This is because I have helped to lengthen short articles in these topics. I have also made extensive changes to the Bree Van de Kamp article. I am also very proud of my successful featured picture, and featured article nominations, many of which I have contributed to.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Early on I found conflicts very stressful and responded accordingly. With increasing familiarity with policies and guidelines, I've been able to more effectively communicate with fellow editors. Most significantly, however, I've learned to trust Wikipedians. That is, if I'm really sure of myself and I express myself clearly, then obviously other editors will agree, and it's only a matter of time before consensus swings my way.

Oppose
- Oppose. From the way you answered Question #1, and the type of activities you participate in on Wikipedia, it seems adminship is not really needed. You did not address any admin chores (like AIV, RFPP, etc.) and this gives me the impression that you can keep doing whatever you're doing without the need of admin tools. Also, I see a bit of inexperience, particularly with the 575 edits you have, which is a few thousand short than what most admin candidates have. You've done good work so far, especially with The Holocaust, but I think you should also diversify your interests and get involved in AIV, RC Patrol, and other things. I also suggest you go for an editor review later on to know what you can improve on, and what you have been doing well. I think if you get involved more in the processes that admins preside over, then you would get a better idea of what adminship is, and what you can use it for. Nishkid64 23:13, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose you are about 2,500 edits short of what I see as a a minimum; also, of your present 577 edits, very few are in wikipedia and only one in Wikitalk. We need to see a much greater involvement in WP:NAMESPACE. And failing to sign the above comment does not help.--Anthony.bradbury 23:37, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well-meaning oppose per Nishkid and Anthony.bradbury. Nothing personal, get more experience and try again in a while. —KNcyu38 (talk • contribs) 23:44, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
