[edit] Automatic navigational templates
I would like a template that, based on a category name passed to it, produces a navigational template. Thanks! :) --Unforgettableid | Talk to me 04:14, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
- That is impossible. Circeus 02:42, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

- To clarify - there is no way for a template to automatically access the contents of a category in a format which can then be turned into a navigation box. It would be possible to create a 'generic' navigational template which would accept a list of articles as parameters, but that list would have to be manually created and maintained. Scripts or database queries could be set up to help automate such a process, but the easiest way in most cases might be to get the 'What links here' for the category and edit that into a parameter list.
- I went ahead and created a generic navigational template at Template:Navbox generic. --CBDunkerson 11:52, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

- Great! I appreciate it. I mentioned it at the top of Navigational templates to make it easier for ppl to find the quickest way to create nav templates. :) --unforgettableid | talk to me 03:03, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
